CONDIMENTS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, since I opened the form for these here notes I have not mustered a single word, although I did mustard a single word – the word was “bumpkin” and the word “bumpkin” is now covered with mustard. I then covered the word “leitmotif” with ketchup. Yes, I am putting condiments on my words today. Perhaps I’ll put some horseradish on the word “hermaphrodite.” Perhaps I won’t because the word “hermaphrodite” doesn’t really need any condiments. However, the word “plebian” could use some Tabasco sauce. What the HELL am I talking about? Condiments on words – that is too surreal for even Eugene Ionesco. Speaking of Eugene Ionesco, yesterday was a day in which things got done. For example, I got up. That got done. I then had to answer a whole slew of e-mails. I then printed out the new Kritzerland CD booklet for proofing, and then I did the long jog. When I returned it was already after noon. I revised a lyric from Nudie Musical, and then I decided to fix something in another one of the newer Nudie songs that’s been bothering me forever, which required me to write a new verse – it made everything work better, but it took quite a bit of time to get the lyric to flow. I then proofed the booklet and sent those fixes to the designer. Then I went to the Studio CafĂ©, where I sat with the Nudie script, going over some handwritten changes – I rewrote several things that needed smoothing out, whilst eating ham and eggs and toast and a little side salad. Then I came back home and had a piece of Parisienne cake for dessert. By that time it was already after five. I didn’t really know where the day went. I had no packages to pick up. I started to watch a motion picture on DVD but I stopped an hour into it. Then I had a lovelier than lovely conversation with Julieanne Pogue. I then decided to start conforming the master Nudie Musical script with all the fixes. I ended up spending the rest of the evening doing that, and I’m just about twenty-two pages away from finishing. Then David will take a look at it and make sure everything’s right, and then I’ll be able to print out copies for our upcoming informal reading next Wednesday.

I’ve been getting a group of actors together – thus far, I have Matt Ashford, Alet Taylor, Jenna Romano, and Cason Murphy, as well as two other folks (friends of Barry Pearl) to help out. I have e-mails into several others and am awaiting responses. I’m really looking forward to hearing what is hopefully a new and improved draft of the script, and I know David is, as well. Then it’s on to the fully staged reading in early March.

In a week or two, I have to get all the music on tape (I still haven’t been able to pin Grant down on a date to record the demo), because it has to go to a guy who’s going to create lead sheets on all the songs.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below whilst I put some mayonnaise on the word “flail.”

Today, I have nothing on my calendar at all. Thus, I will do the long jog, I will finish the Nudie script changes, I will do errands and whatnot, I will begin proofing my new novel, and I will find something amusing to eat.

Tomorrow will be more of the same, and then tomorrow evening I have a three-hour rehearsal with Mr. Sean McDermott. Saturday I’ll be attending the Hollywood Collector’s Show, and Sunday I have another rehearsal with Mr. McDermott, and another visit to the show to see my pal Linda Purl.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do the long jog, do Nudie script changes, do errands, do whatnot, eat, and watch a DVD or three. Today’s topic of discussion: I don’t believe we’ve had a recipe day in years – so, please share your favorite recipe with everyone – that way, all of us gourmands can make new dishes and try new things. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst we but some tartar sauce on the word “twiddle.”
