ADVENTURES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, every day brings new adventures and as long as they’re good adventures then I am a happy adventurer. Yesterday, for example, brought some potential new adventures and overall it was quite a lovely day. The only part that really wasn’t lovely had to do with the noise level at seven in the morning, and then my first official run-in with who I suspect is the foreman of the job – I’ll go into detail later, but it was somewhat amusing. I did the long jog at ten, and it was already broiling out. So, I was a broiled BK all during the run. After that, I answered a bunch of e-mails, packaged up some orders, and went to the post office and sent them on their merry way. I then did a bunch of errands and whatnot, then came home and worked on the lyric for what I hope will be a new Nudie replacement song. That went pretty well, and then I was quite famished, so I drove to Jerry’s Deli and had my usual – a turkey sandwich on rye (the small version – four ounces of turkey) and a side of fries (also small). That was quite good, and then I picked up several packages (with several still to come), and came back home. When I arrived there were no spaces to park anywhere near my house – and that, dear readers, was the straw that broke the Kimmel’s back. Every day, these creeps park their trucks and cars – not on the street where they’re working, but in front of my house. I could park across the street, but there’s no shade there and my car just gets to hot. So, I pulled the car up to my garage door, got out with quite a nasty look on my face and walked toward where some men were hanging out on the corner. They saw the look on my face, and then I blurted out, “Whose truck is this, I want the owner of this truck now.” The owner, who I believe is the foreman on this job, came over to me and I lit into him like nobody’s business. I told him it was bad enough that I have been awakened every day at seven for the last two-and-a-half months by their noise, and I told him that I was not going to put up with them parking in front of my house anymore, taking up all the spaces. I pointed across the street, the same side of the street as I’m on but just across to the west, where there are NEVER any cars parked. I told him to park his truck there and to please keep his men’s cars over there, too. He apologized, moved his truck, and I think got the drift pretty well. I thanked him for doing so. Then I got a very interesting call from a theater and we’re now in talks about the possibility of doing something with Nudie Musical – who knows what will come of it, but the fellow, who is a big fan of the film, seems very excited about doing something, and I liked his energy and what he had to say. So, lots of excellent vibes and xylophones that something good will come of it. I was quite happy after that call, did some more work on the lyric, and then sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a rather wonderful motion picture on Blu and Ray. This motion picture starred fish. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, fish were the stars of this motion picture. There was no real plot, but the fish were quite good playing themselves – they romped, they cavorted, they had sexual intercourse, and, in the case of a school of sharks, tried to eat the camera. This film was directed by French filmmaker from France, Mr. Luc Besson, who I’m quite fond of. The film was entitled Atlantis, and is basically just beautiful underwater photography of the ocean and all its wonders. And boy are there wonders aplenty and those wonders look wonderful in Blu and Ray. There are some truly incredible-looking fish, and the whole thing was just mesmerizing. The score works really well with the images – it’s by Besson regular Eric Serra, and also includes an aria sung by Maria Callas. It’s not really a nature film, and I don’t really know what you’d call it, but I loved every second of it.

Whilst I was watching said movie, I was also uploading clips to YouTube of our benefit from November of 2007 at the Alex Theater – Two’s Company: An Evening of Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz Songs, as done by a stellar company of players. There should be eight clips up now, and more coming today. Spread the word – we want lots of views. You can find them at www.youtube.com/user/haineshisway.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I’m hoping for more fun and positive adventures this day, and I must get my beauty sleep so that I’m ready for them.

Today, I shall be doing the long jog, I shall be doing lots of errands and whatnot, and I shall be having a work session with the composer and lyricist of the long musical. And then I shall eat something amusing, and hopefully there will be some more packages arriving.

I spoke to Crista Moore yesterday and it does look like I’ll be coming in to New York in August at some point, to start putting together her new one-person show. I’d be there for five days and as soon as I know the particulars we can arrange for some fun.

Tomorrow, I have a dental appointment very early, and I purposely planned nothing else for the day, other than the usual errands and whatnot and writing liner notes. I do not like going to the dentist, although my dentist is very nice. His name is Dr. Chew, which seems more than appropriate.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do the long jog, do errands and whatnot, pick up packages, have a work session, and eat. Today’s topic of discussion: How many of you dear readers have been camping or done long hikes or mountain climbed? Let’s hear about your favorite experiences – I haven’t done much of anything in that regard, and I like hearing from those who have. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and let’s hope for some fun, positive adventures for all of us.
