NOTES-WISE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I suppose I’m back to normal and I had quite a nice day yesterday, happy-wise. The weird feeling is almost gone now and I was back to being more like my happy go lucky and lucky go happy self, me-wise. I got up quite early, did the long jog, even though I hadn’t intended to, did some proofing, had a long telephonic conversation, and then toddled off for our work session. It was a little over three hours, but we got quite a bit done, set keys, routined a bunch of songs, and I’m beginning to see the light, structure-wise and show-wise. What am I, The Apartment all of a sudden? Why am I doing all these “wise” things? Well, I think you all know the answer to that question, next Kritzerland release-wise. Where was I? Oh, yes, our nice work session. I then came back to the Valley and a package that was about two weeks overdue finally arrived. After that, I was famished so I took the book over to Jerry’s Deli and did some proofing whilst I ate my early supper. I then came home, had a couple more telephonic conversations, answered e-mails, and that was that, day-wise. I finally sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched another four episodes of Lost. A couple of them were really excellent, and I’m beginning to understand which directors really help the show, and which don’t – same with the writers. I find the most compelling shows are the ones that feature a lot of Terry O’Quinn, who’s really great in the show. Spoiler ahead, so skip the next sentence right now if you haven’t seen the show – skip – skip – skip. And in the final of the four episodes I watched we get the surprising death of one of the regular characters – which is a little unusual for a mid-season episode. Since I found the character a little irritating and one-note, I think the show will do perfectly well sans that character. Image and sound continue to be great. It was a little odd to see Swoosie Kurtz in an episode – in fact, she was the first recognizable guest star. Unfortunately, Miss Kurtz no longer really looks like the original Swoosie Kurtz, which is a shame. I’m very much looking forward to the last four episodes of season one.

I then had another long telephonic conversation, this time with Brent Barrett, and we set the recording dates for the Christmas album we’re doing, which will be in early September. So, we’ll have a nice new cheery Kritzerland Christmas CD for you this year. After that, I listened to the new Kritzerland master, and it’s quite wonderful. I was not that thrilled with the earlier CD release’s sound, and my mastering guy had improved it.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below, because today is going to be a very busy day, Kritzerland-wise.

This morning, I shall be packaging up CDs and getting them over to the post office. After I do the Kritzerland orders, then I’ll do the dealer orders, which are all bigger packages – those can go out tomorrow morning, although my biggest dealer always gets his shipped out via UPS the same day I get them. After that, I’ll be getting a haircut from our beloved Teddy, and then I’ll be coming home to do more proofing and whatnot, and hopefully picking up a package or two.

Tomorrow, I can’t remember what’s going on, but I don’t think it’s much, so I’ll be able to finish proofing and then go over to Grant’s and enter the fixes. The weekend is fairly light, but I have some reading to do, and I’m seeing the new Harry Potter movie and maybe seeing a new print of Black Narcissus at the American Cinematheque on Sunday.

Next week is going to be super busy – lots of stuff to attend to, and more work sessions and meetings.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, package and ship lots of CDs and packages, I must do some sort of jog, I must get a haircut, I must proof, and I must eat something amusing. Today’s topic of discussion: What is the most out there food you’ve ever eaten? Either exotic or weird or just totally wacky combinations of things? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and it’s good to be back to normal, me-wise and notes-wise.
