THE HOLLYWOOD SHOW

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry because she of the Evil Eye will be here bright and early and also early and bright. I am also so tired I cannot see straight, and am currently only seeing crooked. My brain is not quite functioning and therefore I shall just be perfunctory and get the job done. Yesterday, I was awakened by the loudest hammering and yammering yet, happening directly outside of my window. When I could stand it no more, I got up and looked out the window and there I saw workers on a scaffold mere feet from my own home environment. I hurled a vile epithet or three which they probably didn’t hear because of their insane loud hammering and yammering. I answered some e-mails, did the long jog, did errands and whatnot, picked up a few packages, and then Mr. Kevin Spirtas arrived and we toddled off to Jerry’s Deli for some food and a work session. We went over our song list, made some additions and some subtractions, and organized the songs by how they will fit into the structure of the show. He’ll now send me that list and I’ll put it in a rough order and we’ll see how it feels. I had a couple more intriguing e-mails, including another one from the guy in Chicago who is interested in Nudie Musical. We’ll be chatting over the weekend. I also finished finessing my liner notes, and sent those to the designer. I then finally sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night I watched a motion picture on Blu-Ray entitled La Femme Nikita. Why it is entitled La Femme Nikita is anyone’s guess, since the actual name of the film is Nikita. I haven’t seen the film since it came out – I liked it back then, save for a brief scene that featured vomiting. I do not like vomiting. Funnily, as I was watching the first twenty minutes of the film I dozed off for about five minutes and I must have dozed during the vomiting scene, so that was a big plus. It’s a very interesting film and I quite enjoyed it again, but the ending falls apart and just sort of peters out, at least it did for me. The performances are wonderful, and Luc Besson really is a fine director. The Blu-Ray looks quite nice – Columbia really does excellent transfers. Next up, I think, will be Lost, Season One.

After the film, I played on the computer, organized some stuff, and played some CDs – I’ve really been catching up on my CD listening, thanks to the car player. Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I need to get as much of my beauty sleep as I can.

Today, I’ll be getting up early, doing the long jog, and then attending what is now called The Hollywood Show – I know quite a few people who are doing it, plus I have my dealer pals, too. I’ll probably hang out there until about one-thirty, and then I’ll toddle off to Mr. Grant Geissman’s home environment, where we will hopefully get all the formatting done on the new book. It’s actually somewhat far along, and we only have to adjust things and then format the little things in the book that have special formatting needs. Then I’ll print it out and proof it carefully, and we’ll make fixes and then off it goes to the publisher. I’ve been asked to dinner, but I’m not sure if I want to go yet. We’ll see how I feel.

Sunday, I just have to address all the Topkapi packages and get the postage on them. The CDs aren’t actually arriving until Thursday, at which point we’ll get them right out. And we’ll be announcing the new Kritzerland title on Thursday or Friday, so I will, of course, give you a few days head start – it’s a really cool CD – two complete soundtracks, plus a bonus track from a third film, all the films interrelated. I can say no more at this time.

Next week is going to be insanely busy, with two long work sessions with Mr. Spirtas and Miss Purl, getting the new release shipped out, and announcing the new title, and then getting to work on the title that follows that.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do the long jog, attend a memorabilia show, and work on the book design. Today’s topic of discussion: What is your most watched DVD? What is your most listened to CD? What LP did you listen to the most – those items that had the most spins on your record player, in your CD player, or in your DVD player. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, as I ready myself for The Hollywood Show.
