August 3, 2009:

DISTRACTED

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I do believe I need a day off. Normally, Sunday would be a day off, buy my Sunday was not a day off – in fact, from the time I awoke at nine to the time I finished doing everything, which was but a few moments ago, I never stopped. I did the two-mile jog and got that out of the way, and then I gave a final proofing to the new book, found a few more fixes, and got those to Grant Geissman, who entered them, sent me back the final version, which I okayed. Everything, book-wise, is now on its way to the publisher. After that, I had to write the flap copy for the dust jacket. After that, I had to finish the liner notes for the new Kritzerland release, and then, when the designer sent me the finished package, I had to proof that, make corrections, and now that’s been sent off for approval. I also had to have several long telephonic conversations. I then had to write the blurb for our new release. And on and on it went. I had to do a few errands and whatnot, too, and I finally found time to have some supper. And because Show Girl was just reviewed at Playbill, suddenly I got a lot of orders coming in, so I had to print those out and get them ready for shipping. I never had time to begin addressing the packages for the CDs that will ship this week, so I must attend to that today. Over the course of the day and evening, I did find time to watch three episodes of Lost, Season Two – they were quite good, with the usual small annoyances along the way. And that was my Sunday, which was not a day of rest in any way, shape, or form, or even in any form, shape, or way.

For having done so much work yesterday, that’s an awfully short prĂ©cis of the whole thing, isn’t it? One measly little paragraph – I gotta tell you.

Oh, I did start watching something called Planet Earth or some such title – a BBC documentary on Blu and Ray that is absolutely stunning in its photography, clarity, and color. I don’t usually go for this sort of thing, but it looks like it’s going to be interesting, so I’m looking forward to watching it.

Why is it that I can never remember my PIN number for Continental Airlines. I have my frequent flyer number, and the PIN number can only be one of three things, and yet it is not one of three things, or I’m doing something wrong. So, I’ve just sent for it again, and this time I will change it so that I never have this problem again, ever. It’s really annoying. I thought I’d done it last time this happened, but I guess not. But it may be one of those PIN numbers where you have to use a letter and a number in some sort of weird way – that might be the problem and if it is then I suspect I will continue having these problems endlessly.

Has anyone noticed that I am distracted right now? I am trying to write these here notes and make a plane reservation with Continental, and since Continental is not cooperating about my seat assignment (I’m trying to get the bulkhead, due to my extreme claustrophobia – they’ve always given it to me, but not this time), so I am not happy with my seats. I have enough mileage to upgrade the return flight (on which my seat assignment is completely unacceptable) only there aren’t any upgrades to be had, nor are there any upgrades to be had on any flight at any time to anywhere, which I find a little odd. I booked the flight, but I can get a 100% refund anytime in the next 24 hours. JetBlue is the same price, has those seats with the extra leg room, will give me one of those leg-room aisle seats on my return flight, and the bulkhead on my flight into NY, but I had that horrendous JetBlue experience last year and I’m just too scared to go through that ever again. So, I’ll call Continental in the morning and see if I can get a different supervisor on the phone who perhaps can do a little better for me on the return flight.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below whilst I think about taking most of today off.

Today, the big thing is the dentist appointment, which I’m not really looking forward to, but which must be done. After that, I do believe I will be taking the rest of the day and evening off.

Tomorrow, it’s back to work, with meetings, meals, addressing packages, attaching postage to packages, shipping out lots o’ CDs, errands and whatnot, and stuff like that there.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do the long jog, prepare for the dentist, go to the dentist, come home from the dentist and take the rest of the day off. Today’s topic of discussion: If you could go on one reality TV show, which would it be and why is that show the one you choose. And if you could visit the set of one currently shooting TV show, which would it be and why would that be your choice? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and please send most excellent vibes and xylophones for a not too painful time at the dentist.
