LORD LOVE A DUCK

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, all I have to say is lord love a duck. That is because I am listening to Lord Love A Duck as I’m writing these here notes. It’s quite fun – especially the lyrics to the title song – “down on my luck-o, stuck in the muck-o, loooooooord love a duck.” It’s quite delightfully delightful and this is becoming one of my favorites of our CD releases. It’s now been officially announced so if you haven’t ordered simply pay a visit to www.kritzerland.com and check out the audio samples, cover art, and stuff. I’m quite tired as I had a rather long day yesterday, but a nice one. I got up early and had to deal with a few things, and then managed to sneak in a two-mile jog prior to the meeting for the long musical. That session actually went very quickly and we were finished in about two hours. That was a good thing, because our new CDs arrived and I got them all packaged up and to the post office, and that included all the big dealer orders save for two overseas dealers, and those will go out this morning. This is the last call for The Apartment, which I’m pretty sure will be sold out by the weekend. After that, I was quite exhausted from all that heavy lifting, and I went to Jerry’s Deli and had a nice turkey sandwich and fries. Earlier, I’d had an e-mail from paypal saying they’d placed a hold on funds from someone who’d purchased two CDs from Kritzerland – said person was saying items had either arrived damaged or were not as advertised and they’d filed a chargeback with their credit card company. I responded immediately that I’d never heard from this person about this issue and that I found it odd that he wouldn’t have written us about it before filing a complaint. I said I had no problem doing a refund as long as I knew exactly what the problem was and that the items would be returned to us. I then wrote the buyer and copied him on my paypal response. He got back to me many hours later saying he’d screwed up – he didn’t mean to do the chargeback to us, it was for some other site from which he’d made a purchase. He apologized and said paypal would straighten it out. I told him to please have his credit card company call paypal immediately to remove the hold on the funds, but somehow I doubt that this scatterbrained person will do so, which is ridiculous. Meantime, I cut and pasted his e-mail and sent it to paypal, and I’ll call them today and follow up. I then finally sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night I watched a few more episodes of Lost, Season Three. It’s a pretty erratic show, much like Alias was for me, but I’m still enjoying it enough to stick with it. A couple of the episodes were quite excellent, and a couple were merely okay. I’ve also been watching Planet Earth and I must say that Blu-Ray is one of the most stunning things I’ve ever seen. The program itself is terrific, save for some overly dramatic narration at times. Some of the animal footage is a little upsetting when bigger animals kill nice baby animals. The color is fantastic, and the sharpness of the image is not to be believed. I’m just starting episode two, entitled Mountains. I believe this segment will be about mountains, but I could be wrong.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I have to send out the Kritzerland eBlast and post our new release information to a bunch of sites, as well as put it on Facebook and Twitter.

Today, I must go over to my tape transfer guy to pick up a couple of reference CDs for a potential project. I have to see how it sounds and if there’s enough interesting music to do a full CD or if I want to try and pair it with another title. It’s by a composer I’m quite fond of, and the score is fun and bouncy – I just don’t know how much of it there is and how repetitious it is, as it’s not used especially well in the film it’s from. We shall see. Meanwhile, our next release is being uploaded for my mastering guy, and we’ll get to work on that one. I’m pretty sure it will be of much interest to the denizens of this here site – it’s a two-fer, two composers, one really high profile, the other high profile in a different way.

After that, I have to ship out the remaining packages, do some errands and whatnot, and that’s about it for the day. Not sure what I’ll do about food, but I’m thinking about making some pasta with butter and cheese.

Let’s all put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s all break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, let’s dance the Hora and the Electric Boogaloo, for today is the birthday of our very own dear reader, td. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to our very own dear reader, td. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO OUR VERY OWN DEAR READER, TD!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do the long jog, pick up reference CDs, do errands and whatnot, ship packages, hopefully pick up some packages, and eat something amusing. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your all-time favorite movies with beach settings? I love most any movie set at the beach, and I’m looking forward to hearing your choices. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we? In the meantime, lord love a duck.
