FILLED FUN

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, here we are on a Monday. I ask you, where else on all the Internet can you find such information? Nowhere, that’s where. I must say, the weekend was just what I needed it to be, so, thank you weekend. This week will be a busy one, so it was nice to have a relaxing and fun-filled two days filled with relaxing and filled fun. I don’t know about you dear readers, but I simply can’t get enough filled fun. Frequently when I’m having filled fun I also like to eat pulled pork or shoved ham. Oh, dear, I seem to be free-associating again, don’t I? Yesterday was a very relaxing and fun-filled day, although I didn’t have pulled pork or kneaded veal. And when was the last time anyone ate veal? Does anyone still eat veal? Veal used to be so popular with the populace, but I feel veal has fallen by the wayside, wherever the HELL that is. Where is the wayside anyway? And where’s the veal? Did they repeal veal? In any case, yesterday was nice. I got up – that was nice. I didn’t feel like jogging so I went and had bacon and eggs at Jerry’s Deli, where I also made some preliminary notes for my liner notes. I stopped after the preliminary notes and therefore did not do any liminary notes or postliminary notes. I then came home and decided to dive into season two of Mad Men, which I did. I dove in and actually watched nine count them nine episodes. I must say I’m enjoying season two much more than I enjoyed season one. In fact, with the exception of one actor who I thought was extremely poor casting, the show has been top-notch, with good writing, and the repellent characters a little less repellent and more interesting to watch. Sometimes the writing does get a little forced, but overall I really wanted to go from episode to episode because unlike season one, the second season’s stories seem to be more connected, and I think that was a very wise decision. I still like Elizabeth Moss and January Jones best, but I also cannot say enough about my old pal Bryan Batt, who is just terrific in the show. In fact, they’ve really let him shine in season two. I do like the fact that the directors are asked to film this show in a classical film style – everything old is new again, and maybe this show will finally put an end to all the creepy, crappy shaky-cam awfulness that I cannot stomach. I do hope one of our dear readers has been recording the episodes of season three so far – I’d like to catch up and then I’ll record them from now on. I don’t even know when it airs or how many times it airs or anything.

I did watch a little of the Emmy Awards, but couldn’t take it and went back to Mad Men. I also got a little lobster salad from Gelson’s to snack on and I must say it’s not sitting very well in my tummy.

I can’t wait for everyone to get the new book and am looking forward to hearing when it arrives. This part of the process is the most fun for me.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I’m looking forward to more filled fun this week.

My Lord, September is flying by, like a gazelle trying to find a restaurant that serves veal. Today, I shall definitely do a jog of some sort, and I have an early errand to do, and then I have a lunch meeting in West LA, after which I shall come home and finish liner notes and attend to details for our Wednesday table reading of the long musical. And then I’ll finish the remaining four episodes of Mad Men, Season Two.

Tomorrow I think I either have a lunch or dinner meeting, can’t remember which, and bunches of errands and whatnot to do, along with writing the blurb for our upcoming CD and getting it ready to announce. Of course, you’ll all know about it first.

Wednesday is, of course, the table reading, which I’m really looking forward to – I think it will be quite illuminating, and I’m just curious to see if it’s illuminating in the way I think it will be. The rest of the week is equally busy.

Let’s all put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s all break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, let’s all dance the Hora or the mambo because today is the actual birthday of our very own actual dear reader Laura. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to our very own actual dear reader Laura. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO OUR VERY OWN ACTUAL DEAR READER LAURA!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do some sort of jog, do and early errand, have a lunch meeting, write liner notes, and then sit on my couch like so much fish. Today’s topic of discussion: When growing up, what was the most movies you ever saw in one day – you know, pre-home video. For me, I think it was maybe fourteen or fifteen, one of those Filmex movie marathons. And what are the most movies you’ve seen in one day in your home environment? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and let’s have lots of filled fun.
