JOSEPHINE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry because it is late and I have just returned from some late-night bacon and eggs, which I had a craving for, and thankfully I found someone who was also hungry. I don’t do late-night snacks or meals very often, but occasionally it’s fun to do, and when I do I always tend to eat breakfast-type food. So, I suppose we could call these the bacon and egg notes or the late-night snack notes or we could call them Josephine and just be done with it. Yes, let’s call these here notes Josephine because frankly these here notes just have a Josephine vibe to them. I feel that I’m rambling, but that is what happens when you’ve had a non-stop day of doing and going and going and doing, flitting here and there and there and here like a gazelle in a car wash. I got up quite early and at nine many boxes o’ CDs arrived, and I immediately began packaging them. There were more website orders than usual for this title, so it took a little longer to do. Meanwhile, Mr. Handy Man arrived and then left to go get three more metal shelving units. I finished packaging all the website single and multiple orders then took them all over to Ye Olde Postal Office and dropped them off. I then came back and began preparing all the big dealer orders. Mr. Cason Murphy arrived at noon and we got all the big orders packaged and into the car. We then had a spot of lunch at Jerry’s Deli, after which we delivered all those big boxes to the UPS Store (along with several priority packages, which they take to the post office). That was almost 900 CDs, and I still have a few overseas orders to ship, but am waiting on the right size boxes to arrive, which will hopefully be today, although I won’t be around to get them. Mr. Handy Man went to about six places but was only able to find two of the three metal shelving units we needed. He put those together and now all our shipping supplies are neatly on those shelves, along with all sorts of other stuff. So now there is nothing on the floor on either side of the garage. He’s hoping to find the other unit today and if he does then he’ll come back over the weekend, and that will clean up all the other stuff on the floor. He also cleaned up all the leaves and cobwebs that have been building up on the front of the house, and it looks really spiffy out there now. By the time I finally finished with everything it was close to seven o’clock, and, at long last, I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I finished watching all but one of Adam 12’s season three episodes. The last two I watched were amazing – I hit real Studio City pay dirt, where almost every shot in the show was within blocks of the home environment, including great shots of Ventura Blvd. near Whitsett, where Staples, Bed and Bath, and Carny’s are now – back then, that whole deal was a big Safeway Market, and a huge parking lot. They got as far as the bowling alley next to Jerry’s but if they’d gone just a little further down the street we could have seen what was originally in the Jerry’s location. There was also wonderful stuff shot at the corner of Ventura Place and Radford, where several shots of Du-Par’s circa 1971 were on view. It was, in fact, a veritable Valley feast of locations.

After that, I decided I needed a late-night snack of bacon and eggs and I recruited another hungry person and off we went to Jerry’s Deli, where I had said bacon and eggs, which were quite yummilicious and hit the spot, although what the spot did to deserve being hit is anyone’s guess. And then I came home, and that was my day and that was my evening.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below so we can continue these here notes, which I call Josephine.

Today is going to be a very long day. I have to get up very early, get ready, and then be at our casting session at 9:45. We’re going until around six-thirty, and that’s a really long day. I do think we get a half-hour break at some point, so that will be nice. Then I have to come right home and do some work that needs doing.

Tomorrow, I have a few packages arriving, and then I have to package up the two or three extant overseas orders, and then I’m supping with Mr. David Wechter. And then it’s Labor Day weekend, a weekend in which I will do no labor whatsoever.

Let’s put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s break out the cheese slices and ham chunks, let’s dance the Hora or the Monkey, for today is the birthday of our very own MattH. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to our very own MattH. On the count of three: One, two, three: A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO OUR VERY OWN MATTH!!!

There are a couple of other birthday wishes for occasional dear readers that will be in the early posts, so check them out, too.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, get up early, have a long casting session for the long musical, come home, do more work, and eat something amusing. Today’s topic of discussion: As mentioned, I occasionally love late-night snacks – so, what are your all-time favorite late-night snacks – either at home, or at a restaurant? What is your most usual late-night snack craving? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst we say goodnight, Josephine.
