THE BEST OF INTENTIONS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I always have the best of intentions, like, for example, having a nice night of doing nothing. That didn’t quite happen. Instead I had a nice night of doing everything but nothing. I don’t know how it happened, really. But I’m just finishing up now, now being ten-fifteen in the evening. I got up not quite early enough to do the jog, and I have been very lax about that and that will have to change because I feel better when I jog. Happily, I woke up with no headache and my mouth feeling much better. I then had to answer e-mails, have a couple of telephonic calls, and then hurry to our short casting session. We only saw two people, I think, as the rest of the actors, who’d confirmed, couldn’t be bothered to show up. I continue to be astonished and amazed, not necessarily in that order. I then hurried back the Valley, where I picked up a couple of packages and no mail. I was the quite hungry, so I went to Hugo’s and had lunch. I then came home to a lot of e-mails and telephonic messages, all of which I answered. I then sat on my couch like so much fish and watched two good episodes of Mad Men, good mostly because they concentrated on characters that I like. I was then going to start a motion picture on DVD, but instead I had to do the Constant Contact stuff for our announcement at midnight of our new Kritzerland release. That took much longer than usual because Time Warner was being retarded and slow as molasses. I finally got so annoyed that I called them. They reset my modem as a diagnostic – this they did without telling me first, but thank goodness I didn’t lose anything I’d done. That seemed to help and I got finished with the Constant Contact stuff. Then I had to package up four more orders, and I did so and then drove to the postal office and shipped them. Then my tape transfer guy showed up with my CD refs of what he’s been transferring, so I spent the rest of the evening checking all those out, along with a new Kritzerland master. Needless to say, it was a busy night of listening here in the City of Studio. That said, the stuff I’d not heard before is really terrific – one of the soundtracks, I think, will be a major discovery for people. I also had to have several telephonic conversations, made my dinner plans for the weekend (I’m really looking forward to dining on Saturday night), answered yet more e-mails. I also sent out advance word on our new title to my online dealers so they could get in their orders. And that was my night, with nary a moment for relaxing. One of these days. I did have the best of intentions, though.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must get these here notes posted early so I can send our announcement out, and then put it on Facebook, Twitter, and wherever else I need to announce it.

Today is another busy little day, but I do hope the evening will be free, at least I have the best of intentions that it be so. I have to get up early and try to jog, but someone is coming over at nine-thirty, so I’ll have to be done by then – maybe just the two-miler today. Then I have to go to Encino to supervise the laying down of piano tracks for the demo of the long musical. We’re only doing five songs, so I’m hoping it won’t take too too long. I also have to deliver a big box o’ CDs to my local dealer, and he has the new re-recording of Exodus for me, which I cannot wait to play.

Tomorrow is a lighter day, and I shall choose which selections I’ll be reading at the reading/signing. I may have a lunch and/or dinner, but won’t know for a while.

Friday, we put the vocals on the piano tracks, and that will probably take about four hours to do. Not sure what’s happening after that. Saturday, of course, is my book signing/reading and then the dinner I’m very much looking forward to.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do some kind of jog, I must supervise the laying of tracks, I must deliver CDs, and I must, at some point, eat something amusing. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, and hopefully the best of intentions will work out this evening and I’ll be able to just sit on my couch like so much fish. And hopefully be printing out lots and lot of orders.
