BANANAS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I had another light day of merriment and mirth and laughter and legs and doing nothing at all. Not. Oh, I slept until ten like a lazy loafer (and boy did I need the sleep). Then I spent the next ninety-plus minutes on the telephonic device with Apple Care trying to finally get to the root of all the nonsense with my iPhone. When we did the restore and did a sync from a backup it just caused all my contacts to go into the phone twice, even though they’re only in my address book once on the computer. Well, that is very annoying. So, I began nuking the extra ones. I then got that annoying pop-up window from mobile me saying that syncing the changes would nuke 36 contacts from my computer’s address book. Well, that was it – I was determined to fix it once and for all or get a new phone. I think all this stemmed from the bad cord I had. Anyway, I had the same guy as a week ago and he was very helpful although it took a really long time to figure out the root of the problem and then do what needed to be done. Ultimately, we did a complete restore on the phone, which nuked everything – my apps, my iTunes, my address book and my calendar, basically starting from scratch. We then went into mobile me and did some adjustments there. We then went into preferences and did some adjustments there. Then I had to configure the phone from scratch – all the passwords and wi-fi stuff and once all that was done, we plugged it into the computer and it immediately synced correctly and put everything back the correct way. It now works perfectly and syncs perfectly and all is well with the iPhone. By that time, it was almost noon and I then spent another forty-five minutes on the telephonic device having a work session with the lyricist of the long musical. That was productive. Then I got a call from Mr. David Wechter asking if we could meet for a late lunch at Bob’s Big Boy in Toluca Lake and I said absolutely. I then did a few errands and whatnot and picked up a couple of packages. Then I toddled off to Bob’s and had an absolutely horrendous time trying to get there, thanks to street work, confusion on my part trying to get around the street work, and a lot of traffic due to the street work. It just never ever ends.

I hadn’t been to a Bob’s Big Boy in a ‘coon’s age and it was fun, but I sure don’t remember a Big Boy being so small. It basically took two minutes to polish it off, same for David. We were still so hungry, we split another one. They were very good, but I just remember them being larger. We went over the problem area in Nudie Musical that I was having trouble on and we came up with a good solution that will require me to write a short and I’m sure risqué ditty. That should solve the problem, hopefully. We talked over some other notes, and he’ll address those and make those changes. We discussed some other business and then I headed home. I then put postage on the packages that have multiple CD orders, so those are now done. Then I finally sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night I watched a motion picture on Blu and Ray entitled Contact, starring Miss Jodie Foster and Mr. James Woods. I’d only seen about thirty minutes of it before. It’s a long movie at two-and-a-half hours, but its heart is in the right place and it has interesting ideas and a very committed performance by Miss Foster. But too much of it devolves into the usual government clichés and the guy taking all the credit clichés and several other clichés. It’s a shame really, because there was probably a better script to be had rather than just taking the standard Screenwriting 101 approach. The film has a gorgeous score by Alan Silvestri, and I did enjoy watching it despite my problems with it. The good news is that the Blu-Ray is stunningly beautiful in every way.

I then did some work on the computer and got everything ready for our official Kritzerland announcement for Woody Allen’s Bananas and Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex But Were Afraid To Ask CD release, which is happening right after these here notes are posted.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I am quite tired and quite ready for my beauty sleep. Perhaps I shall dream of bananas.

Today, I shall be up early and ready to package up a whole slew of CDs and get them shipped. Then I have several errands and whatnot to do, after which Mr. Cason Murphy will be joining me to put postage on all the International orders and get those to the postal office. Perhaps we’ll have a bite to eat after that.

Tomorrow I’ll be finessing all the Brent Barrett mixes and finishing that project save for whatever fixes Brent might want. The packaging is almost done, and we’ll probably announce the title for preorder in two weeks or so.

Saturday I’ve kept totally free save for dinner with my friends Richard and Margaret (my muse) Jones. I’m really looking forward to that. Sunday I’m not doing anything but maybe writing liner notes – I’ve got two sets to work on but that will put me four weeks ahead of the game and I would like to be ahead of the game, frankly or even stevely.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do some sort of jog at some point, I must ship lots o’ packages, I must put more postage on packages, I must do errands and whatnot, I must sup, and I must sit on my couch like so much fish. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite movies featuring aliens from space – either friendly or not – it’s one of my favorite genres of film. They don’t have to be only creature movies – movies like Contact count, too. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I pray for Bananas’ orders to go bananas.
