TO A “T

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I had a lovelier than lovely post-Thanksgiving day, even though I did have to do a little work here and there and also there and here, here, of course, being there without the “t”. And that suits me to a “t” and just because I’m now in a “t” frame of mind, I’m wearing a “t” shirt. Perhaps I’ll have a cup of “t”. I seem to have glommed on to all things “t”. Now I suppose I’ll have to watch The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T or go play a game of golf so I can “t” off. This is all so very amusing that I just went “t” hee. Well, I think we’ve exhausted that, haven’t we? But before I move on, do you know that if Liza Minnelli’s name was Lita she could sing Lita with a “t”. And now, a word from our sponser – Lipton’s “T”.

I got up earlier than I cared to, thanks to the oafs and their Friday morning gardener. I packed up a few dealer orders, then went to the bank, and then to the postal office, where I shipped said packages. I got a few telephonic calls, answered a few e-mails, and then went and had some bacon and eggs, rye toast, and tomatoes, which, for those who haven’t noticed, starts with a “t”. After that, I went to pick up some tapes only to find the vault closed for the holiday – I wish someone had informed of that. Then I picked up two nice packages, and then I came home. I then spent the next couple of hours prepping our release announcement, and then writing and finishing the liner notes for the release that follows that. That was a big load off my mind, and then I sent all of it to the designer. I think I’ll probably be hearing the master to the next release this very weekend. After that, I finally sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a motion picture entertainment entitled The Last Battle, the very first film directed by Luc Besson, a French filmmaker from France. I’ve been quite fond of several films he’s made, such as Leon: The Professional, Angel A, The Fifth Element, La Femme Nikita and a couple of others. The Last Battle is a post-apocalyptic film and is really well directed – Mr. Besson was twenty-four when he made this film. The only actor I knew was Jean Reno, who’s done quite a few Besson films – here he plays a villain and he’s quite delightful doing so. The film has terrific atmosphere (shot for $500,000), and stunning black-and-white scope photography. I was quite taken with the whole film, especially with the fact that there is not one word of dialogue in the entire film, as something in the air has robbed people of their ability to speak. Actually, there are two lines of dialogue – four words to be exact, in a scene where two characters suck on some oxygen and manage to say “Bon jour” to each other. So for this story to be told in strictly visual terms and told so clearly is a major feat. The transfer is excellent, as is the sound, which shows off Eric Serra’s very good score to a “t”. I have two more Besson Blu-Rays to watch – Subway, which I’ve never seen, and Angel A, which I have.

After that, I just sat at the computer like so much fish, surfing the Internet, took a hot shower, and then it was time to write these here notes. Little did I know when I began them that they would be The “T” Notes. Well, let’s all click on the Unseemly Button below whilst we sing “T” for Two.

Today, I shall hopefully have another lazy day. I have made no plans and no plans have made me. I may take a drive in the motor car, I’m sure I’ll eat something amusing (I have a hankering for my tuna pasta salad, so maybe I’ll just rustle up a batch and it will last for two or three days), and I’m very certain I’ll watch at least two motion pictures on Blu-Ray.

Tomorrow is more of the same, although I do have to deliver a big box o’ CDs to the local dealer. While I’m out that way, I may pay a visit to Brent’s Deli, just because everyone raves about it so much. We shall see.

Next week should be quite busy, with releases to announce, meetings to have, meals to eat, and packages to address. And then, I’m heading to a BK birthday – I have no idea what I’m doing on said birthday yet. I’ve been invited to dinner but I’m not sure if that’s happening on the actual birthday or the night before or after the actual birthday. I’ll know more this week.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do some sort of jog, I must watch some motion pictures, and I must eat something amusing. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your all-time favorite Motown songs? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, with a capital “P” and that rhymes with “T” and that stands for “T”.
