THE POSTING OF THE POST-CHRISTMAS NOTES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I had a lovelier than lovely Christmas Day and Evening, and I hope all of you did, too. I heeded the credo, Peace On Earth, Good Will Towards Men, and did not get into any squabbles on the Internet or elsewhere, and I was kind to everyone I came in contact with, both male and female, even though the credo says I only had to have good will towards men. In fact, I could have, if I’d felt like it, gone out and kicked a few women in their shinbones, but I didn’t. Since I didn’t get to bed until two after the DO, I slept until almost ten-thirty – it was a very good night’s rest. I got up, answered a few e-mails, and then opened a few presents, all nice. I then washed the few pans I hadn’t washed the night before, listened to some music, and then did the long jog. When I returned from the long jog, I got in the motor car and started it up, because the last two days the battery has seemed very weak and the car was difficult to start. And indeed, I actually thought it was not going to turn over, but it finally did – I then drove around for about twenty-five minutes, came home, shut it off, started it up and it seemed much better. I then relaxed, listened to more music, and then somehow the afternoon was over and it was time to toddle off to the Cissy Wechter Christmas Partay. Happily, the car started right up. And it was probably good for the battery to drive for thirty-five minutes straight. Happily, there was no traffic, so I just had a very pleasant ride. Once there, I shut off the motor car then started it again, and the battery seemed totally revitalized.

The Cissy Wechter Christmas Partay is always a festively festive affair and this year was not different. It was filled with nice folks, the atmosphere was warm and cozy, and many of the folks there treat me like I’m one of the family, and frankly I feel that I am. I hung out with David and his beautiful wife, Barbara – she just had some minor surgery, but looked great and seemed to be doing well. Their two kids, Zach and Daniel, are doing great. Daniel showed me a bunch of cool iPhone aps that I now have on my phone. Cissy is not shy about making oodles upon oodles of food. She’s an incredible cook. We had turkey and ham and stuffing and peas and sprouts and yams and all sorts of wonderful breads and made special for me, her yummilicious kugel, the best anywhere. I was actually pretty good – one little piece of turkey, two little pieces of ham, a few peas, a half of a half of a yam, no stuffing, and two nice-sized helpings of the kugel. Oh, yeah, and about three small pieces of faboo cornbread. I was even better on desserts and just had a sliver of coconut cake. I got two great books from David (he really knows what I love) and a really nice shirt from Cissy. I left the partay around nine, the motor car started right up, then drove another thirty minutes home and that was that. At some point, I finished off the little bit of tuna pasta salad that was left, as I didn’t want much food in the house from now until the end of the year. I have done my two splurge days – and they weren’t quite as bad as usual, so I think if I’m really good over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be right back to where I like to be.

I didn’t talk to many people over the last two days, but I did have a really nice call from Mr. BIG, Bert I. Gordon, who couldn’t come to the Do, but called to wish me a Merry Christmas and to say we’d get together and hang out on his boat after the New Year begins. I’m really looking forward to that.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I am quite full and quite tired and soon I will quite be in my cozy bed, sleeping cozily.

Today, I’m really hoping we get the Empire Of The Ants booklets signed – I’m at the mercy of the composer, but he knows we have to get it done, so I’ll be calling him first thing in the morning, and hopefully we can do it earlier rather than later – he lives out near Cissy, so it will be good to give the car battery another two long drives. After that, I’ll just come home and relax – I have to have a brief conversation with the author of the long musical, but I’ve told him that’s it until after the New Year begins – I just have to have a couple of days of total me time, to get my brain ready to start the new book and my energy back up to full speed.

Tomorrow, we address a lot of packages and then put postage on them, and I also want to prepare all the bigger orders and overseas packages’ customs forms. Then the new helper will come back on whichever day the CDs arrive and she’ll help me get them all shipped out. And then I have to start writing new liner notes for our next release, which I’ll announce during the first week of January 2010, the year we make contact. And, of course, our annual New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Partay right here at haineshisway.com – the only New Year’s Partay you need to attend.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do a jog if I can, hopefully have CD booklets signed, and then relax, watch motion pictures and eat VERY lightly. Today’s topic of discussion: What were your favorite CDs released in 2009 – all genres. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I post the post-Christmas notes.
