December 12, 2009:

THE WEEKEND IS HERE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, this has been such a busy week that I didn’t even notice the weekend was here, and I, for one, am glad the weekend is here so that I can do weekend-like things. I would say that the year 2009 is finally winding down, but I cannot say that since we’ve got two more releases coming (plus shipping The Children’s Hour), I’ve got many meetings to attend, I have a Christmas Eve Do to do, I’ve got a darling daughter to see, and I’ve got about twenty pages of notes to type up for what will hopefully be my new book, which I will, as usual, begin writing on Januray 1st. I do think the final week-and-a-half will be fairly relaxed and I must say I’m looking forward to that. I had a perfectly pleasant day yesterday filled with perfectly pleasant doings. I got up at nine, did some work on the computer, and then downloaded our new master, which I then listened to and, with one small fix, approved. I must say this release tickles me. I then went and had a sandwich and fries, then came home and packaged up a few items, which I then took to the post office. I had no mail at all, save for one envelope. I then decided to write the liner notes for the release that will accompany the master I proofed – it’s going to be a budget-priced limited editions – as I mentioned yesterday, it’s my way of saying thanks to all the loyal Kritzerland customers. It’s not a well known title, but the composer is major and a multiple Oscar-winner, so I think people will really enjoy it. I managed to actually finish the liner notes, after watching the film, which is short, online. I’d never seen it before and it was quite interesting. I went to Gelson’s to get a snack, and then I finally sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night I watched a motion picture on Blu and Ray entitled The Pink Panther. It was one of the first Blu-Rays I bought, and I thought it was really astonishing-looking when I first tried it out – but I hadn’t seen many Blu-Rays at that point. While it’s a very good transfer with great color, I can see now that it probably should be a little sharper than it is – still, it’s very pleasing. I’ve written about the film many times – it’s very enjoyable but long with many stretches that could be cut without harming anything. Of course, this was the film that introduced Inspector Clouseau, but it’s not HIS film and he doesn’t have nearly enough screen time. Also, you can see that Peter Sellers and Blake Edwards are trying to figure out exactly what they have and who Clouseau is. The film was a big hit, and everyone fell in love with Clouseau and Edwards and Sellers would soon re-team in the much funnier A Shot In The Dark.

After I finished watching, I did some fixing of the liner notes, and then sent them off to the designer. And that was my day and that was my night, not necessarily in that order.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I’ve just noticed that the weekend is here, and therefore I must get my beauty sleep so I can enjoy it whilst it lasts.

It’s been raining for the last fourteen hours – sporadic, but still pretty steady. It’s been a long time since we’ve had some good rain and I’m rather enjoying it.

Today, I have no plans whatsoever, and since I’ve already finished the liner notes, which I was going to do this weekend, I get to just play and relax and also relax and play – I do have to pay a whole slew of Kritzerland invoices. That’s never too much fun, but it must be done, as I want to be all caught up by the end of the year, even with the bills that have us on a net 30.

I may check out what’s screening at the DGA this weekend and maybe I’ll see one of these new-fangled new movies. Otherwise, I shall just watch motion pictures from my own collection.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, play and relax, I must do a couple of errands and whatnot, I must hopefully pick up a package or three, and I must eat something light but amusing or, at the very least, something amusing and light. Today’s topic of discussion: I’ve been on a little chicken kick lately, so what are your all-time favorite chicken dishes, and give recipes if you have them – I may just want to try something new and fun this weekend. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, because, after all, the weekend is here.
