BLEARY WEARY EYES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, my eyes are bleary, my mind is weary, these notes may be dreary, and perhaps I’ll discuss Dr. Timothy Leary, dearie, or maybe I’ll query as to why a gazelle gets teary, or maybe I’ll talk about Wallace Beery, or talk about how good Richard Dreyfuss was as Roy Neary, which would, of course, be both cheery and eerie. And that’s enough of that. My eyes really are bleary, though, having written close to seventeen pages yesterday. About five of those were things I had to go back and add – things just keep coming back to me and I’ve made the decision that I don’t need to mention every single show I ever filmed, especially if there’s no interesting story to go along with it. Sometimes I won’t mention at all, and sometimes I’ll find a way to work something in if it makes sense and even then, just in passing. The first thing I did when I got up yesterday was, of course, to print out the latest batch of pages, which I then took to Staples for Xeroxing, after which I delivered them to muse Margaret’s ever-lovin’ Richard, since muse Margaret was visiting her mother. I then went and had some bacon and eggs, then came home and began writing. I disposed of the year 1974 in about fourteen pages – it was such an odd year, and I really didn’t want to go into great detail about a lot of it, so I just covered all the important stuff. I think that section came out all right, and now I’ve moved on to one of the most extraordinary years I ever had – 1975, which will take up quite a few pages, maybe the most for any single year. I’m sure I’ll split it into at least three chapters. Once I get past that, then the other years will move along much quicker. I stopped writing at around four-thirty and finally sat on my couch like so much fish.

Yesterday I watched disc two of season one of The Sopranos. This is simply some of the best television ever made – I really forgot most of these episodes, so it’s like seeing them for the first time, and they’re just so compelling and addictive. Not to mention that them make you want to immediately eat baked ziti or lobster or big Eyetalian meat sandwiches. Some of the episodes look better than others, but none of them are less than fine looking. After the three episodes, I attended the haineshisway.com Golden Globes partay and it was quite fun with loads of lovely postings, over six hundred of them. I feel that soon we will be the most popular site on all the Internet.

Then I got the call from muse Margaret and she said she loved the latest batch of pages and she went into detail about a lot of it, which is always fun to hear. She had just a few minor things to fix – one grammar error, a little additional information about a person, and a couple of additional details here and there, all of which will only take about two minutes to implement. And so, I mush on.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because my eyes are bleary and I am weary and need my beauty sleep.

Today, I shall write, eat, and then at four Mr. Cason Murphy will arrive and we’ll spend the next three hours or more addressing packages, filling out customs forms, and attaching postage. Maybe we’ll get it all done in two hours, at least that would be the best-case scenario, as I’m going to be exhausted from the writing. And I also have to print out everyone’s notes on the rewrite of the long musical and in order to do so I have to actually find them all in my folder. Unfortunately, everyone who sends me the notes in a Word document titles the documents differently, and sometimes it just takes forever to locate them. I do think I went in this time and retitled them all so they began with the title of the show followed by the name of the person who wrote them.

Tomorrow, I have a long work session with the co-author of the long musical, to go over all the notes. I really don’t want it to take longer than two hours, but I fear it may go to three hours. No matter what, I am leaving for home no later than two-thirty. The other annoyance about this is that he wants to meet where we met last time, at the Westside Pavilion Fast Food Court, which I hate. I hate the food, I hate the hard seats and the tiny tables, and even if I have to pay for lunch I’m going to push to go to Junior’s deli, where the booths a large and comfy. I’m also going to push to start by eleven. I’ll try to get up early and write at least five pages before I go, and then five when I return. We shall see.

Why don’t we all put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, why don’t we all break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, why don’t we all dance the Hora or the Texas two-step, because today is the birthday of our very own Pogue. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to our very own Pogue. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO OUR VERY OWN POGUE!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, write, eat, and address and stamp packages. Today’s topic of discussion: If you could have one toy from your childhood, which would it be and why would you want that one particular toy? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and do make them cheery, dearie, so that my bleary weary eyes can take them in in all their loveliness.
