MUSIC HATH CHARMS TO SOOTHE THE SAVAGE BREAST AND BEAST

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it was a mighty day of shipping yesterday. The Mad World CDs arrived at nine-fifteen and Cason arrived at nine-thirty, and by eleven-thirty we had everything packaged and ready to go. We took everything over to the postal office – of course, everyone had to go to the postal office at eleven-thirty, especially because of the heavy rainfall. It’s funny how important the postal office becomes to people as soon as it starts raining. It’s like there is a chip in the brain that says, “Hey, it’s pouring outside, better get right over to the post office.” But we pulled right up to the loading dock, unloaded our boxes and we were on our way. We then loaded up the big UPS boxes and got those shipped. Then we went to the Studio CafĂ© for some lunch, after which Cason took his leave and I began my writing for the day. I ended up doing about twelve pages. This little section took a while because I absolutely had to get the chronology right. I was totally wrong about the timing of one thing, but once I’d figured it all out suddenly everything made sense. But it’s also because this little section is somewhat dramatic and the tone is very important to me. But I think it came out fine (not through with this section yet) and if any of this very long Nudie Musical section feels repetitive or boring, I know that muse Margaret will tell me. It was just such an important event in my life that I wanted to be very detailed about the entire process and what happened. That took most of the rest of the day. At about five-thirty, the rain finally stopped and it hasn’t come back as of the time I’m writing these here notes. I’m hoping we have a little respite from the rain this weekend – we shall see. After that, I finally sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a long motion picture on Blu and Ray entitled Boogie Nights. I really like the first third of the film a lot. The second third is not quite as good but it holds one’s interest. But the final third just doesn’t work as well for me, even though I understand why it’s the way it is. It’s a really well cast film (and features a lot of the same people who would go on to do Magnolia), and the style is quite good, especially for a first-time director. There are a few Nudie Musical-esque scenes, which makes me think the director saw our film on cable when he was a kid. The Blu-Ray looks superb, and it’s fun to see all the Valley locations disguised as the 1970s. The film captures that era really well. There are a host of extras, including a lot of cut scenes, some of which are pretty interesting.

After the movie, I cleaned up a little of what I’d written earlier, and then just listened to music because it is music, after all, that has charms to soothe the savage breast. Or is it beast? What is it – is it the breast or the beast? I never remember if it’s the fershluganah breast or the beast. I know what a savage beast is, but what the HELL is a savage breast? Okay, it’s the savage breast. Congreve wrote it. So, let’s get this straight once and for all and for all and once – it’s not the savage beast. It’s Beauty and the Beast and the savage breast. Not that I would mind Beauty and the Breast and the savage beast, but let’s just call a spade a spade, shall we? What the HELL am I talking about?

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because music has charms to soothe the savage breast and nothing more need to said.

The Savage Breast – that’s the title of my next novel, a story of a breast so savage that it becomes the talk of the town, savage breast-wise. Today, I shall be writing, doing a few errands and whatnot, writing, and then attending a small dinner partay.

Tomorrow, I shall be printing out almost 100 pages to take to muse Margaret, after which I shall write. There’s still a chance I might meet the co-author of the long musical, but it’s going to take two hours of my day and I’m just not really prepared to do that, I don’t think. We’ll see how I feel. If not, we won’t be able to do it until Wednesday, and I think that might just work better for me.

This coming week will be very busy. Not only will I be writing, but I must do liner notes for our next release, I must prep the release and announce the release, then begin immediately prepping the release that follows. I’m trying desperately to get ahead by one or two releases, so that I’m not always up against the wall. I also have a couple of meetings this week, and a couple of meals.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, write, do errands and whatnot, write, and attend a small dinner partay. Today’s topic of discussion: What was the worst or oddest job you ever had? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and do let them soothe the savage breast, won’t you?
