ON LAMB CHOPS THEY PUT PANTIES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, did you know that in France the girls wear scanties, but on lamb chops they put panties? I ask you, where else on all the Internet can you find such information? Nowhere, that’s where. Did you also know that yesterday was one of those days where I just felt slightly behind the entire day, like I could never catch up and finish everything I wanted to finish. I got a good night’s sleep, got up, and had a ton of e-mails to respond to, including yet more endless e-mails from various and sundried people from the long musical. The co-author sent me the latest batch of rewrites and, of course, he wanted me to read them asap and give him notes. And then I got several calls from him, none of which I had time to answer or to deal with. I finally wrote him and said I wasn’t going to be able to get to them until today. I think sometimes he forgets that I actually do other things, and yesterday there was just too much to get done and attend to. I had to be at the tape transfer place at eleven, so I didn’t even have time to shave or shower, I just loaded up the tapes and drove down there. I had four possible projects, one of which is a no-go because the tape was something wholly other than what I was expecting. One other project’s tapes were unusable, but I’ll be getting that score from the composer, so it doesn’t matter. One other set of tapes needed baking, so I didn’t get to hear them, but they should be fine and it’s a score I definitely want to do – the only question is one of length and I won’t know that till I get my CDR. The other title will be fine, a really fun bit of funk from the early 1970s, just the kind of thing I love, and by a composer I’m really fond of. I finally got out of there and headed right back to the Valley and came home. I had a little visit from a friend who was lending Kritzerland some album covers to shoot for upcoming projects, and then I finally managed to write a page and a half. That’s the thing, I am really not inclined to slow down my writing process and I get really irritable when I’m taken away from it, especially by the long musical. I then went to Hugo’s for some lunch. I went at two-thirty, which should have given them thirty minutes after the lunch crush. But noooo, not Hugo’s – apparently the throngs of people who eat there every day must not work because there they sit until three-thirty. It just boggles my mind. The hostess told me lunch doesn’t even get crowded now until one-thirty. So, I guess if I want to go there it will be at noon or earlier or after three-thirty. The food was very good, although the half Caesar has suddenly gotten very small. I then picked up 0 packages and 0 mail. I came back home and wrote another four pages. Every time I’m fragmented like this in terms of my day, it takes me fifteen or twenty minutes to transport myself back into the book, so I’m going to be laying down the law to everyone about the next few months. Then I had to switch gears and finish the liner notes, which took quite a while, and then I had to finesse them, then do the track titles and all the credits, but I finished it all and got it off to the designer. Said designer came by at ten to pick up the album covers he had to scan. If all that wasn’t enough, I then had to listen to the master of our new release. Thankfully, it sounded faboo and a half, and the bonus tracks sounded great, too. I was then sent one additional bonus track, which I instantly decided could go one the CD. So, we’ve got about fourteen minutes of bonus material. I’m very pleased with it. I finally got back to the book and I at least ended up with close to nine pages for the day. I have no idea if they’re good or not and won’t until I read them again today. I’m sure I’ll be smoothing them out and doing some little fixes – but the good news is I’ve sort of got the style down now and I’m learning where I need to be detailed and where I can cut to the chase, which was an important lesson.

I never did have a chance to sit on my couch like so much fish, not for even a minute. Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I’m really groggy and overtired and need my beauty sleep, and I shall dream of lamb chops in panties.

Today, I shall begin the day with smoothing out and fixing what I wrote yesterday. Then I have a work session with the composer and lyricist of the long musical, after which we might have a spot of lunch. After that, I am back to the book and will not talk to or communicate with anyone until I’ve written however many pages that make me happy and satisfied, which will be at least between five and seven. Once I’ve done that, then I’ll read the new rewrites for the long musical and give my notes on them. That shouldn’t take more than an hour, and then I’d like to watch a motion picture and relax, and then maybe do another page or two for the book.

This weekend I’ll begin jogging again, I’ll write, and I also have to prepare the blurb and the eBlast for our new release and proof and approve the packaging. But I shouldn’t really have any other interruptions, so I hope to get some good writing done. On Sunday, I’ll probably bring muse Margaret the first 100 pages. She’ll be reading it from the top because I took out those things she didn’t like, and added a few other things, so I want to make sure she’s happy with that first forty-two pages.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, write, have a work session, eat, write, watch a motion picture and write. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player, and your DVD/video player? I’ll start – CD, the new Kritzerland master. Blu-Ray, The Green Berets. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and do remember that on lamb chops they put panties. With information such as that you can rule the world.
