CORRECTIONS, FIXES, ADDITIONS, AND SUBTRACTIONS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am finally done entering corrections, fixes, additions, and subtractions, not necessarily in that order. I spent most of yesterday dealing with two sections. The first was a timeline problem and was quite complicated to set right. That took about two hours. The second section was the book’s final chapter. I began by cutting the sections I was positive needed to go. That immediately shortened the chapter by seven pages. I then continued to whittle it down to its essence, without losing the fun stuff, and the material that muse Margaret liked. I then spoke to muse Margaret and went through all the cuts, all of which she was happy about. I then asked her about two little sections I thought could still go and she agreed and go they did. All in all I but close to twelve pages from the book’s final chapter. I also added about two pages, just some review excerpts for Stages. So, for now, I’m done. She’s reading the manuscript for flow and hopefully she’ll be happy with it and then the book can go to the merry proofers and in a couple of weeks Grant and I will begin the book’s design. I have a lot of fun ideas for this and I’m sure he will have many, as well. I don’t know if we’ll make it, but my goal is to have it out no later than June.

That is basically all I did yesterday, save for having a nice lunch of papa’s eggs and a small Caesar salad and picking up one package and some mail from the mail place. I had a few packages to ship but decided that could wait until today.

Last night, I watched a motion picture on DVD entitled Peeping Tom. I have every version of this film that’s been on DVD and I think the one I watched last night is, while not perfect, the best of them. It’s an import from the UK from Optimum. The movie remains one of my favorites, with brilliant direction from Michael Powell, an astonishing performance by Carl Boehm, wonderful performances from Anna Massey and Moira Shearer, and a breathtakingly original score by Brian Easdale. If you’ve never seen this startling film you really owe it to yourself to get it and watch it. Here in the States it’s available from Criterion.

I then watched the latest episode of Lost. I liked a few of the scenes on the island, but the other plotline is just not working for me, especially last night’s episode which concentrate on Locke at home, with very repetitious scenes similar to what we’ve seen done before in other episodes. I’m hoping and waiting for something great, but I’m beginning to think it’s not going to happen. Last week’s “cliffhanger” ending was not even referenced in this week’s episode. I fear Alias redux.

After that, I watched a little of the high-definitions broadcast of Guys and Dolls on the DVR. It doesn’t look like a true hi-def transfer, but looked better than the DVD. I must say I really cannot stand the movie. After that, I listened to some soothing classical music, read through the two major fixed sections, which pleased me very much, and then it was time to write these here notes, which, in case you haven’t noticed, I’ve been doing.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I need my beauty sleep after all the corrections, fixes, additions, and subtractions.

Today, I shall relax and do no work whatsoever. I have a luncheon with the mystery girl from Facebook who is no longer a mystery, and I have a few errands and whatnot to attend to and five or six packages to ship. Oh, I guess I do have to write my new liner notes, so there’s that.

Tomorrow I may be supping with our very own Miss Alet Taylor, and I may start addressing packages, as CDs may or may not be here by Friday. In fact, I must order more boxes tomorrow or I shall run out and one simply must not run out of boxes or one will be boxless.

I have to finish prepping the next Kritzerland release by Sunday so we can announce at some point next week. I heard the master last night and it’s quite nice – just have to make a couple of little tweaks and we’re done.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, relax, have lunch with the mystery girl from Facebook who is no longer a mystery, ship a few packages, hopefully pick up a package or three, and then work on new liner notes. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I am happily through with corrections, fixes, additions, and subtractions, at least for the time being.
