KIMMEL ON KINDLE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, Kimmel has come to Kindle. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, in six weeks six of my books will be available on Kindle and other electronic reader services. Eventually, they’ll all be available, but I wanted to get the Kritzer and Hofstetter books up first. Rewind, Writer’s Block, and How To Write A Dirty Book and Other Stories will all go up when my new book comes out. I suppose it’s about time for me to reveal the title of the new book. There was never any question or doubt in my mind what the title would be – as soon as I decided this was going to be the book, this title came right to mind and I’ve never wavered. Muse Margaret loved it and even if people don’t understand it (some will, some won’t) the few I’ve told like it, too. Of course, once you read the book you’ll know exactly what it means. In any case, the title is: “There’s Mel, There’s Woody, and There’s You” My Life In The Slow Lane A Memoir by Bruce Kimmel.

I think I had a very busy day yesterday but I can no longer recall exactly what I did that made it so busy. I know I answered a plethora of e-mails and prepared our new release announcement, which happens at six this morning. I know I had a lunch meeting at the Hamburger Hamlet and I know I picked up a package and some mail. The rest of the day is a blur but I know I did other things because suddenly it was six o’clock and time to sit on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched Lover Come Back in high definitions on the DVR. While it’s occasionally very funny, it’s not quite as fresh or cohesive as Pillow Talk. Miss Day is very winning, as is her usual co-stars, Mr. Hudson and Mr. Randall. It’s also not quite as pleasing looking as Pillow Talk in high definitions. Still, it was enjoyable. I then watched the first half of The Bad and the Beautiful in high definitions. It looked quite good, and I have to say for the umpteenth time, they don’t make ’em like that anymore. What dialogue, what characters, what direction, what music, what performances. It’s impossible to even imagine what this film would be like were it made today, but thankfully no one has gone near it and so we’re left with only the original. I’ll finish it this evening.

After the movie, I was very lazy and listened to music and more music and answered more e-mails and wrote a little page long anecdote that I might stick into the book if muse Margaret likes it, although my instinct is that I’ve got enough stuff already and these little tiny stories that don’t really impact anything one way or another are fun but you don’t want overkill or to slow things down. But it does mention someone I was fond of (an entertainer) and a club I frequented a lot back in the 1970s, so we’ll see. I know exactly where it would go, so that part is easy.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I have to be up very early at six to announce the new Kritzerland title, and then I’ve got a very long day ahead of me.

Kimmel on Kindle – spread the word, baby, spread the word. Today, I will be up at six, announce the new title, hopefully print out lots and lots of orders, do some banking, and then have a four-hour casting session, after which I must deliver the book manuscript to someone who will be hopefully writing a blurb for it. Then I’ll go have something to eat, pick up some packages that I know are arriving, and then hopefully print out more orders.

Tomorrow and Thursday are also casting sessions, and tomorrow I’m meeting someone after for a meal, perhaps at Genghis Cohen – haven’t been there lately and am craving it.

Let’s all put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s all break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, let’s all dance the Hora or the Twist, for today is the birthday of dear reader and author, Druxy. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to dear reader and author Druxy. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO DEAR READER AND AUTHOR DRUXY!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, announce a CD, print out orders, do banking, have a casting session, deliver a manuscript, eat, pick up packages, and print orders. Today’s topic of discussion: Since Kimmel will soon be on Kindle, what do you think of these electronic reader devices? Do you think they’ll replace books? Do you like them? Are there specific things that are good about them, like convenience when traveling and that sort of thing? Or is it the end of the civilized world as we know it? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, as we all prepare for Kimmel on Kindle, or the Electronic BK.
