THAT’S A FINE HOW DO YOU DO

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is Sunday, a day of rest, and by gum and by golly and buy bonds rest I shall. I shall do a whole lot o’ nuttin’. Oh, I do have to deliver a big box o’ CDs to a local dealer, but that’s it. Oh, maybe I’ll go have a nice, relaxing meal, or maybe I won’t. One thing I will be doing starting very soon is to gather together photographs for the new book. I have some here already, but I want to find some rare stuff in the memorabilia boxes. And since I only actually quote lyrics for three songs in the book, but discuss many others, I may put a lyrics addendum in the back. We’ll see. I can also pretty much say with a certainty that all books ordered directly via Kritzerland will receive an audio CD with some very rare tracks. Let the hunt begin. I had quite a nice day yesterday. I got up early and answered some e-mails and whatnot, then went over to Office Depot, where I had two count them two copies of the new book printed up (double-side printing) and spiral bound, so I can now read through the entire book and hopefully begin catching errors and making sure things flow the way they should. I do know there are a few words or phrases that I’ve overused in a major way, so I’ll be circling those and fixing them. After I finished there, I went into the Wood of Holly to have lunch with two very nice people from the Film Score Monthly message board community. I hadn’t been to Musso in a couple of months, so it was grand to be there and have my Combination Louis with oodles of 1000 Island dressing. The company was sparkling and we all had a good time. I then came home, where I had nothing whatsoever to do and I did nothing extremely well. Oh, I caught up on some e-mails and did some further prep work on our new release, which we should be able to announce this week, probably on Wednesday officially, but a little earlier here. I still have to write my portion of the liner notes but that should only take an hour or so. After that, I finally sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a motion picture on the DVR entitled The World Of Henry Orient in High Definitions. I do have a very soft spot for this lovely film, even though it never quite achieves perfection. But it sure gets close. Merry Spaeth and Tippy Walker are both cute as buttons, Peter Sellers is quite amusing, and Angela Lansbury is chilling as a very bad mommy and wife. But the person who ends up walking away with the film, at least for me, is Mr. Tom Bosley, who is just so simple and wonderful and gives such a touching performance. And then there is the absolutely brilliant score by Elmer Bernstein. The hi-def transfer was really quite lovely. I then watched three more episodes of The Sopranos, Season One, and every one of the three was fantastic. It really will go down in history as one of the greatest TV shows ever done, even if subsequent seasons never quite captured the magic of season one. The Blu and Ray transfers get better and better. I recommend this highly.

After I finished my viewing, I came back to the computer to do some more writing but then I realized I finished the book. Perhaps I’ll simply start another book. I am certainly in the writing frame of mind, much as I was after Rewind, when I immediately began writing my short story collection.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I have been dawdling Amaryllis and it is time for me to get my beauty sleep.

Today I shall do nothing but what I wish to do. Now wait just a darned minute – didn’t I already say that in the first part of these here notes. Well, that’s a fine how do you do and a fine kettle of fish and a fine soup de poisson. Now I’m left with egg on my face – I normally don’t mind egg on my face but this egg is over easy and is very runny. In any case, nothing is what I’ll mostly be doing. I’ll probably watch more Sopranos, but what I most certainly will not be watching is the Superbowl.

Tomorrow we have a little two-hour casting session, after which I shall go a’visiting with my very own actual brother. Cousin Alan and his ever-lovin’ Dee Dee will also be there. And the meeting has been moved to Woodland Hills, which, while far, is not nearly as far and inconvenient as Santa Monica.

The rest of the week is filled with various and sundried meetings, errands, proofing, and announcing. It should be a nice, busy week, and then on the weekend is the big book fair in Century City, which I’m very much looking forward to.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do nothing. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, as we wrap up these here repetitious notes – that’s fine how do you do.
