VERY VERY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is very late and I am very tired and yet I must write these very notes and make them very very. Not only that, but she of the Evil Eye will be here bright and early and so here we go. Yesterday. There that ends that portion the notes. Oh, I may as well tell you what happened. I got up. That happened. I actually got a great night’s sleep, but then had a ton of e-mails to deal with as well as several telephonic messages. By the time I finished all that I was famished, so I went and had some bacon and eggs. After that, I picked up some mail from the mail place. After that, I came home and had to deal with even more e-mails, which was difficult as AOL’s servers were constantly down and therefore those addresses in my mail program would not send mail at all. It was very annoying. After all that, it was finally time to attend the private reading of the long musical.

Last night, we had a private reading of the long musical. I must say, it started out very well. In the very first scene it became immediately apparent that we didn’t, in fact, need the five lines of dialogue and one of the characters, so I’m going to ask for them to be cut. The first three numbers worked really well, and then problems began and they’re the same problems we’ve been having since day one. There are two stories being told in this show and they are working at cross-purposes. The show has gotten much, much better, but until we fix this central problem it will never work. So, we have a lot of work to do before rehearsals begin, but if everyone checks their various and sundried egos at the door, we can get it done. I will say that we have two amazingly wonderful leads – Patrick Levis and Kelly Sullivan – they just sparkle and their instincts are so right and so good and they’re both going to be a complete pleasure to work with. The one thing I know for certain is that I’d work with either of them anytime, anywhere. Our very own, Mr. Barry Pearl, did very well in a role in which I knew he’d be wonderful. His part was virtually in one scene in the original version (and up until this last rewrite) – I insisted that he be put into every scene in which the lead character’s family is involved, and finally there’s a point to the character. I’ll be meeting with the composer and lyricist on Monday and the co-author on Tuesday or Wednesday, and they’re all going to have to understand that I’m not going to be pussy-footing around about anything – I’m going to ask for radical work to be done and that they just need to do it.

After the reading, Mr. Barry Pearl and I went over to Little Toni’s, where I ate four count them four slices of pepperoni pizza. I was so hungry I simply could not stop. I really have to start jogging again, and I think by this Wednesday I will be back to a regular regimen. Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because it is very very late and I must get my very very necessary beauty sleep, or at least as much as I can.

Today, I shall go do errands and whatnot in the morning and perhaps have some bacon and eggs. After that, it’s back to my second proofing of the new book (just looking for places to break up very long paragraphs into slightly shorter paragraphs, and making sure everything is very clear), and also I have lots of notes to make for the long musical.

Tomorrow I’ll be seeing a film composer and having a work session, and then I may go to an art gallery opening, and then I may eat something amusing.

This coming week is going to be fairly busy but not crazy busy, so that’s good. I’ve got some work sessions, a few meetings, and proofing.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, eat, proof, proof, eat, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: When was the first time you ever had a slice of pizza? Do you remember where it was from, what it tasted like? And when and where was the first hamburger you ever had – not at home, but out? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I put my very very tired head upon my very very pillow.
