March 14, 2010:

ATTENTION MUST BE PAID

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, there are two things that I must call attention to and yes, attention must be paid ($3.74). Attention doesn’t work for free, you know. The first thing is that the madness continues and daylight savings time is, once again, upon us – earlier and earlier. Why even bother having regular non-savings time anymore. Whoever is making these decisions should be run out of town on a rail. So, do not forget to spring forward and reset all your various and sundried clocks. The second thing is that March is now almost half over. How did that happen? I gotta tell you. Both of those things combined or separately boggle my already boggled mind. And do remember that attention must be paid ($3.74). Yesterday, I had to get up early, for she of the Evil Eye was here to do her thing. I did my thing – I went to the postal office and did some shipping, I went to the bank and did some banking, I went to Office Depot and did some Xeroxing, and then I went to Jerry’s Deli and did some eating. I printed out the beautiful designed book and began going through it, finding quite a few bad breaks, almost no widows or orphans (only two), and a whole slew of hyphens posing as em dashes that we have to fix. I managed to finish the entire book (just looking for those specific things) and I’m going through it again two more times, because some of these things are really difficult for the eye to catch the first time through. In between doing that, I did a few more errands and whatnot, went to Gelson’s and got some shrimp to snack on, and then finally sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a motion picture on Blu and Ray entitled The Neverending Story, directed by Wolfgang Peterson. I’d never seen this film before, and I must say that I quite enjoyed it. I don’t think it’s a masterpiece or anything, but it moves right along, tells its story well, and is visually pleasing. Also pleasing is the transfer, which is pretty perfect.

After the movie, I did my corrections on the long musical – only a handful and now we will lock this version of the script for our upcoming reading, which is upcoming all too soon. I then started getting the word out for our LACCTAA event this coming Saturday – An Afternoon With Gordon Hunt. I’ve known Gordon since 1969 and he’s one of my favorite people. He began as a casting director at the Taper, and then became a director – an EMMY and DGA nominated director for such hit shows as Frasier, Caroline In The City, Mad About You (starring his daughter, Helen), and many others. He also directed several of those celebrity-laden musical extravaganzas at the Hollywood Bowl. Gordon has also been one of the busiest directors of animation and videogame voiceovers for the last twenty years. If any of our dear lurkers or our West Coast denizens would like to come, just drop me an e-mail and I’ll arrange it. It’s March 20 at noon.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because frankly attention must be paid ($5.51 – attention’s basic rate just went up) and we must get to the next section.

Today, I must get up early and put labels on boxes, after which Mr. Cason Murphy will arrive to address said labels on boxes, put postage on boxes, and fill out customs forms. After we’re through, I may or may not deliver a big box o’ CDs to a local dealer.

Tomorrow, something is going on but I cannot remember what. Tuesday evening we will resume the book design stuff – hopefully laying out the photographs and doing the fixes (the latter may take a lot of time and may have to happen on another night). The rest of the week is busy with prepping our new Kritzerland release, getting ready for the Gordon Hunt event, having meetings and meals, and doing a book signing next Sunday, followed immediately by a small three-hour recording session for the long musical.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, put labels on boxes, address, postage, and perhaps deliver a big box o’ CDs. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, and don’t forget – attention must be paid ($7.66 – when will these pay hikes end).
