THE ESPECIALLY TIRED NOTES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am especially tired as I had an especially long day and it is really hard to repeatedly type the word especially when you’ve had an especially long day and are especially tired. I just tried to kill a bug on the computer screen and then realized it was the arrow of from the mouse. That’s what happens when you’re especially tired. Of course, the reason for being especially tired is that I got up at six in the morning to announce the new Kritzerland release. I sent out the eBlast, posted the information on various boards, Facebook, and Twitter, and then I went back to sleep and got up just after nine. I printed out a bunch of orders then had to hurry to a breakfast meeting. Said meeting resulted in a new Kritzerland project, the soundtrack to a truly beloved cult film. I then proofed a bunch of chapters of the book and I found yet more things that neither of the copy editors found – some little misspellings are so hard to see because frequently it’s something like “or” when you mean “of” and that’s just something the eye tends to gloss over. I then went through the long musical and made all my notes, then went back to proofing the book. I did some banking, some errands and whatnot, and then it was time to join our very own Mr. Barry Pearl and his ever-lovin’ Cindy at Tony Roma’s in Encino. I hadn’t been to the Encino Tony Roma’s ever. I was hoping they had the same salad bar they had in Beverly Hills, but alas and alack they did not. I had a salad wedge, which was quite tasty, and a pulled pork sandwich and corn on the cob, all yummilicious. Then it was time to mosey on over to the reading of a new musical that Barry was participating in.

Since this new musical is in developmental stages, I’ll just say that the musical theater form is very difficult to get right, especially for people who are new to it. So, there is work to be done, things to focus, and important decisions that have to be made about tone and intention. They seem to want input and I think Barry is going to try and set up a meeting, should they be interested in hearing mine. After the reading I came home, where I was especially tired. I was also happy to find that the latest Kritzerland release had sold out in a mere twelve hours.

I keep forgetting to mention that I watched a weird little short film on Blu and Ray, a spoof of Japanese monster movies called Geharha – The Dark and Long-Haired Monster. It’s not really all that funny and only runs nineteen minutes, and has been issued all by its lonesome on a pretty pricey Japanese Blu-Ray, which I was fortunate to get a cheap copy of. The monster is fun, and they do have a good time spoofing the Ifukube music – just wish it were a little funnier. It’s a nice-looking transfer. I just wonder for what reason it was made and where it actually ran.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because frankly I am especially tired and need to especially go to bed very soon as I have another early and busy day.

Today, Mr. Cason Murphy will be arriving early to help ship out a lot of CDs. All the regular orders will ship and most of the big online dealer orders will ship. That should take about two hours, and then the rest of the day will be spent finishing (and I do mean finishing) proofing the book before it goes to Grant for designing. I will have to spend time with muse Margaret going over a few things that I don’t want to change without her giving me the okay – sometimes I try to second-guess myself and she always stops me if I’m going to make something not as good as what’s there. After I finish proofing I will try to have that conversation with muse Margaret, and then and only then will I give my notes on the latest draft of the long musical. There are several things that need to be quickly addressed.

Tomorrow, I’m having lunch with a gal named Kathy Amerman (now Schiller). She’s the photographer who took my favorite headshots, one of which graces the back cover of the dust jacket. I haven’t seen her in over thirty-five years, and I’m really looking forward to reconnecting. I’m also going to ask her if there’s any way she’d do a photo session with me so I can get some really good current photos. If she will, I will lose fifteen pounds as quickly as possible (the Subway turkey sandwich diet) and shoot them in a month.

Thursday and Friday should be calmer days, which I shall look forward to.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, ship a lot of CDs, proof, run changes by muse Margaret, and then give notes on the long musical, after which I shall watch one or even two motion pictures on Blu and Ray. Today’s topic of discussion: Who are your all-time favorite foreign-speaking actors and what are your favorite films they’ve appeared in? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I especially hit the road to dreamland since I am especially tired and especially need my beauty sleep.
