CALL ME

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is so late and I am so itred – see what I mean? Tired, that is, that I can barely see straight. I see crooked rather well, though, so there’s that. So, I shall be witty and urbane but brief. Or, conversely, I shall be brief but witty and urbane, not necessarily in that order. I am also filled with three slices of Little Toni’s pepperoni pizza and I hope I don’t pay the price ($3.76) for eating pepperoni this late. Many of the cast convened at Little Toni’s for a little post-show celebration. We were seated at a very long table and we laughed and laughed and just when we thought we could laugh no more, we laughed again. It was all rather irreverent and we pulled no punches and we punched no pulls. We skewered those who needed skewering and it was just fun and a lark. Prior to that, I was awakened by the ringing phone at nine in the morning. I was really wanting to sleep a little later than that as I was very itred – I mean tired, but the phone rang and that was that. I, of course, didn’t actually take the call. It turns out that the entire cast was called in those early hours with words of congratulations. Calling a little later would probably have been the better thing to do. So, I got up, did work on the computer, answered a slew of e-mails, and had several very long telephonic conversations with friends who’d seen the first performance of the long musical. Their thoughts were very interesting and very much along the lines of what I think. I then did a few errands and whatnot and picked up three count them three packages from the mail place. After that, I did other things, and then I met Mr. Cason Murphy for dinner near the theater. After that, we moseyed on over to the theater, I gave about two tiny notes to actors, and that was that. We had a pretty full house last night, with many people I knew, so that was fun. The show went very well, and the reaction, while very different than the first night, was very nice and there were certainly more laughs. The problem areas were exactly the same. Once again, our wonderful company of players did a great job and I’m hoping to work with these people again on other jobs – they were just a joy from start to finish. I was especially pleased with our ensemble women, who were really talented and really cute. The audience ate them up. I was also so happy to have been able to use our very own Mr. Nick Redman’s darling daughter Rebecca in the show. She’s a very professional, poised teen, and she did a great job. Aside from my little problems with some unnecessary interference, this was a really nice experience and it was fun and positive and that’s not that usual for staged readings, which can be really intense and not fun, depending on who is doing them.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must finish these here notes and try to get a few hours of beauty sleep.

Today, I have been coerced (coerced, do you hear me) into attending a meeting re the long musical. However, I’ve informed everyone it will, for me, be a VERY short meeting. In, out, let’s get crackin’. What am I, a Jet all of a sudden? Call me Riff, call me madam or call me bwana, but I’m so itred – sorry, tired – right now that I have become even more incoherent than I usually am.

After the meeting, I shall do a few errands and whatnot and that will be that. I’ll get my motor car washed, I may jog, I will eat VERY lightly, and then I will sit on my couch like so much fish and catch up on my viewing, starting with the last two episodes of Lost.

Thursday I have some shipping to do and then the rest of the week (Friday) is mine all mine. This weekend is something called Monsterpalooza at the Burbank Mariott and I’ll be paying a visit because our very own Mr. Bert I. Gordon will be there and I’ll say hey.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, attend a short meeting, do errands and whatnot, jog, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, and don’t forget to call me bwana. Or irresponsible. Or call me, don’t be afraid you can call me, maybe it’s late but just call me, call me and I’ll be around.
