IT’S A LOVELY DAY TODAY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, sometimes, no matter how busy the day is, some days are just lovely and yesterday was such a day. I got up a little earlier than planned but there was a lot to do in terms of answering e-mails and stuff, all of which I did. I then had a very lovely breakfast meeting, after which I picked up some tape to CD transfers so that I could add the last few tracks to the bonus CD that comes with the book. I hadn’t heard some of these tracks in close to forty years – some of it was, in fact, mind-boggling, but those mind-boggling tracks won’t be on the bonus CD. I then picked up the package I’d shipped home from Kentucky – it contained a couple of packages of Moon Pies (peanut butter), my Brain t-shirt and poster and program, and some Jrand goodies. And then I had to sit down and do a lot of work, but all the while I just kept wanting to sing It’s A Lovely Day Today. I wrote the liner notes for our fast-track release, which I will indeed be announcing tomorrow if all goes according to Hoyle. I have never moved this fast on a CD and am happy to know it can be done. I also did the track titles and then sent it all off to the designer. Then I began work on the bonus CD. I put all thirty-something tracks in a fun order, listened to it and the order seemed to work just fine. Then I did the track titles and a little something about each track, then sent all that off to the designer and the mastering guy. Then I did a couple of errands and whatnot, whilst walking with a light step and a song in my heart. I went to Gelson’s and got a couple of snacks, then came back home, had a very long telephonic conversation, giving corrections on the book I promised to give corrections on – we got through the first fifty pages, and will continue later today. I then finally sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched the most recent episode of Lost, which was pretty okay save for the last ten minutes, which I didn’t see because the DVR stopped recording. So, if anyone of our loyal and true denizens can send me a PM and tell me what happened in the last ten minutes, I’d be grateful. I also had to unplug the DVR and plug it back in, because it was not receiving program information. That seemed to fix it and I now have complete program information.

I then began to watch the new Blu and Ray of Eisenstein’s Battleship Potemkin, which looks pretty terrific for a film of its age. And the score sounds great. However, I wasn’t really quite ready to watch it in its entirety, which I’ll do this very evening. I then played on the computer for quite a while, did some more work, listened to four CDs that contain music for a potential Kritzerland release and all I can tell you if this comes to pass it’s a major BK holy grail and a holy grail for many. It’s a little complicated, but we’re all hoping it will come to pass. No one has heard this music in its entirety (it was on LP but missing about half the score) – these are right from the three-track master tapes and they sound gloriously glorious.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below whilst we continue to sing It’s A Lovely Day Today so that today is indeed a lovely day.

Today, I must write the questions for Saturday’s Jason Graae event. I also just found out that this weekend there’s another Hollywood Show – if I’m reading it right, this is the first time it’s going for three days – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – must check and see if that’s right. I won’t be able to go until later Saturday afternoon, and then only for a little while, but I feel I should stop by and say hey to my pals.

Tomorrow, I have a lot to do, and hopefully we’ll be able to announce the new fast-track release, and I also have a dinner in the evening. Saturday is the Graae event, the Hollywood Show and then Andrea Marcovicci at the Gardenia. Sunday I don’t know about yet.

Let’s all put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons and, more importantly, our UNDERPANTS, let’s all break out the cheese slices and the floop, let’s all dance the Hora or the tango, for today is the birthday of our very own beloved dear reader Sandra. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to our very own beloved dear reader Sandra. On the count of three: One, two, three – A VERY HAPPY HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO OUR VERY OWN BELOVED DEAR READER SANDRA!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do the Graae questions, I must approve packaging, I must listen to our new master, I must do errands and whatnot, I must eat something amusing, and I must watch a motion picture or two. Today’s topic of discussion: If you could have the score to any motion picture, one that’s never been out before, what score would you choose – your holiest of Holy Grails? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and let’s all sing a rousing chorus of It’s A Lovely Day Today.
