THE INDIANA BRAIN

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is REALLY late and I have to get up early, but I do want to tell you all about my rather fabulously fabulous day. For example, I got up. That was fabulous. I did two miles on the treadmill, took a shower and got ready for the arrival of the Pogue. Arrive he did, and we got in his motor car and he took us to a place called the Cracker Barrel. If we weren’t going to be supping later, I would have ordered everything on the menu – all my kind of food. I ended up being a good boy and had a chicken salad sandwich with a tiny side of macaroni and cheese, both of which were quite yummilicious. I also bought some peanut butter moon pies, one of which I’m eating as I write these here notes. After lunch, we came back to the hotel and we had the most wonderfully wonderful over two-hour chat – what fun it was to just have really fun, civilized face-to-face conversation. And frankly, we laughed and laughed and just when we thought we could laugh no more, we laughed again. Then Jrand and Evil Kurt arrived. It was grand to finally meet Jrand and Evil Kurt was a delight. We went to Shapiro’s Deli – I was a very good boy again, and had only a tiny side of mac and cheese, and about a half a slice of German chocolate pie. We sat there for quite some time and had a lot of fun, then we headed over to the Buck Creek County Playhouse. We met the director of the show, who was very sweet, and I also met his mum, also very sweet. Our seats were taped off, so that was nice. And then it was show time.

And how much fun did I have? A ton. It was so great to just sit in the audience and watch a production I had nothing to do with, and see how well the show works. The audience had a great time and the company got all the laughs they should have. The music sounded terrific (they had a really good sax player), and I just had a blast. The cast was really fun, every one of them. Some stuff was similar to what we’d done, and some stuff was very different, which I enjoyed. They got a great mark for the Brain Tap, so that was a load of laughs. The set was terrific, as was all the technical stuff including lighting and costumes. During the curtain call, the director came out and introduced me, which was very nice. Then I met the cast and we took some photographs onstage (which I hope to post here soon). Then a lot of the cast and backstage crew gathered at a local pub and we all had the best time. I had really nice chats with so many lovely people and it just could not have been a better evening. As Sally Durant Plummer put it so very succinctly – I’m so glad I came.

After that, Evil Kurt drove us back to the hotel – he was great about doing all the driving – it just made it all so easy. And our very own Jrand is a delight.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I have to be up very early, as we want to be on the road by nine, and it’s already two-thirty in the morning.

Today, we’ll be driving to the old Kentucky home of Pogue and there we will have a wonderful visit with the Pogue and his ever-lovin’ Julieanne. Then they’re taking me out to an Eyetalian dinner, and then we’ll try to get a few hours of sleep before the drive to the Cincinnati airport at around four in the morning. I can hopefully print out my boarding passes in the computer room downstairs prior to our leaving the hotel.

I’ll be back home on Sunday and do send lots of excellent vibes and xylophones for a safe and on-time two flights. Once home, I have to finish prepping our new release to announce the following morning and I’ll need to get to bed very early.

Next week there is a lot happening, but I’ll have some ME time, which I’ll need.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, go to Pogue’s old Kentucky home, visit, sup, get a few hours of sleep, and then be on my way to the airport and then home to LA. Today’s topic of discussion: I was very taken with the moon pie. What are your favorite things like moon pies – the great candies of old? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland.
