THERE IS NOTHING LIKE A DAME MAY WHITTY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, there is nothing like a relaxing day – well, maybe there is nothing like a dame, but next to a dame there is nothing like a relaxing day and I had quite a relaxing day and frankly there is nothing like a relaxing day, even a dame. Well, we’re off to a rousing start, aren’t we? Actually, to some there IS nothing like a dame – for example, I’m rather fond of Dame Edith Evans or Dame May Whitty. Where was I? Oh, yes, I remember. I had a beautiful night’s sleep, got up, puttered around the home environment, and then met Mr. Eddie Korbich for an early luncheon at The Studio CafĂ©. We were there for a couple of hours, eating and chatting and also chatting and eating. He had some questions, I had some answers, and the whole thing was lovelier than lovely. I then came home whilst singing three choruses of There Is Nothing Like A Dame in C. Once home, I did the edit road map for our next release. This required me to watch the film the release is from and since I’d never actually seen it, that was quite enjoyable. Happily, what we’re using for our source material was already in film order, so all I had to do was create some new track titles and consolidate about ten of the really short cues into longer cues. After that, I wrote the liner notes. All that took quite some time and then the day was basically over. I didn’t even go pick up the mail even though there was some to pick up. I then filled out the census form that came in the mail with a warning that I hadn’t filled out the previous census form that was sent some weeks ago – I don’t recall getting such a thing, but I found the warning (that if this form wasn’t filled out that some ominous person would come visit) more than a little off-putting. I then did some more work on the computer, arranged my transportation to the airport and back, and had a couple of telephonic conversations. Then I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a motion picture on Blu and Ray entitled Toy Story. I hadn’t see the film since it first came out. First of all, the quality of the Blu and Ray is spectacular – just eye candy of the highest order. I find the second Toy Story (which I’ll watch tonight) a better film, but this one is quite short and moves right along and the invention of the animation is amazing. The script wasn’t quite up to the best of the Pixar scripts, at least for me. Randy Newman’s score is a delight from start to finish, and the voice actors are all great. A very entertaining seventy-something minutes. After that, I began Lord Of The Rings, the first film. I got ten minutes in and then decided I should watch it when I’m fresh, probably this afternoon. As always, the nutcases who “review” these things for various sites have it all wrong – there are multiple complaints about the quality of the Blu and Ray – mentions of edge enhancement and grain removal and these people are just hopeless twits – they know absolutely nothing about this stuff – the image on view looks great. I wonder if these people put the disc in their computer, freeze-frame an image and then zoom in until they see something they think is wrong. The only thing that’s wrong is that these people are allowed to put their misinformation in print, even on the Internet. I look forward to finally seeing this movie all the way through.

After I finished Toy Story and the ten minutes of Lord Of The Rings, I listened to some music and did some more work on the computer – I’m trying to wrap up everything on our next release so that when I return on Sunday I can have it all ready to announce on Monday.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I shall soon get my beauty sleep so that I can have another lovely day today.

Today, shall hopefully be another relaxing and lovely day. I really have no plans at all, other than buying some travel-sized toiletries for the trip. I’ll go get my mail, so some banking, and begin figuring out which clothing I’ll bring for my short trip. I don’t really have to bring much, so that’s good. Packing nice and light is what I like. I’ll eat, of course, and then if we’re rid of the chilly weather and rain I might just jog.

Tomorrow morning we will ship out the new CD, which will hopefully arrive first thing in the morning. I want to finish everything by one so that I can just eat something fun and then pack and relax and calm myself for Thursday morning’s flight to Houston then Indianapolis.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do a jog if possible, relax, eat, and relax, then watch a couple of motion pictures on Blu and Ray. Today’s topic of discussion: What’s your favorite of all the Pixar movies, and what is your favorite song from all the Pixar movies? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst we remember that there is nothing like a relaxing day and also that there is nothing like a Dame May Whitty.
