TRACKS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I sit here awaiting the arrival of tracks. Not the tracks of my tears, mind you, but the tracks of our new release, because once they arrive I must get them to my web guy so we can announce on time. I don’t know about you, dear readers, but I do not like sitting here awaiting the arrival of tracks. Tracks should have been here a day ago, but, noooo, they are arriving late at night and then I have to listen to them, and then get them to the web guy. Sunday nights are not supposed to be so busy. Damn them, damn them all to hell. I need tracks. And yet, there are no tracks. In the meanwhile, I had a pleasantly pleasant Sunday. I got up way too early, did some stuff on the computer, was surprised not to find any tracks, and then my brother arrived at about twelve-thirty. We sat and chatted and then his son David and David’s girlfriend arrived. I’d already made the decision about where to eat, and so we drove to Genghis Cohen and had a splendidly splendid meal that wasn’t quite as splendidly splendid as usual, but still was mighty fine. After that, we came back to the Valley and stopped at a frozen yogurt place called Chill for some frozen yogurt. It was very good, but not something I need again. Then we came home and David and girlfriend left, and brother and I took a nice walk, which was helpful. Then we both sat on the couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a motion picture on Blu and Ray entitled Coco Before Chanel. I know the film didn’t have many champions, but frankly I enjoyed it pretty much. The actors were all fine, there’s no “with it” direction, and the Alexandre Desplat score is lovely. No, it’s not a brilliant film, but it does what it sets out to do, tells its story leisurely, and ends with a fashion parade that simply takes the breath away. This woman’s designs were astonishing and still look amazing today and could be worn by anyone anywhere and look great. It’s not really a likeable film, but I enjoyed it. The transfer is pretty perfect, and the sound is subtle and lovely.

After the movie, I had some work to do (although listening to tracks wasn’t part of it), so bro began reading my book and immediately found a stupid typo that no one had caught, right in the first part. It’s really minor and the kind of thing the eye just doesn’t normally catch (it eluded to editors and five go-throughs by me). I did my work and found out that the tracks were not arriving until late, which annoyed me, tracks-wise.

So, here I sit, awaiting tracks and killing time by writing these here notes while bro reads a book.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I’m bored of waiting for tracks and frankly I’m bored of this section.

Today, I’ll be up at six to announce our new title (with or without tracks), and then bro will be leaving at ten-thirty, and an hour later I have a phone meeting conference call that will last not ONE minute longer that ONE hour. After that, I have another meeting, a dinner meeting at five, and then someone is coming to watch a motion picture on DVD – there is a reason for said watching of said picture, but that’s another discussion for another day.

Tomorrow, I begin working with Mr. David Wechter for a few hours every day this week. We’re meeting in Burbank and will start working over lunch, then we’re coming back here to continue until about three. And that happens each day, either here or at his house. Later in the week, I’m seeing a show at the Geffen (to see our very own Alet Taylor) and also seeing Jason Graae in the musical in which he’s appearing. So, a very busy week for the likes of me.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, announce a title, hopefully print out lots of orders, have a telephonic phone conference call, have a meeting, have a meeting, and watch a motion picture. Today’s topic of discussion: What is your favorite era for clothing, and within that era what was your favorite type of clothing for men and women? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I continue to wait for – tracks.
