WICKY WACKY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, yesterday was a wacky day – good wacky and bad wacky and even wicky wacky and partially ticky tacky. I don’t mind good wacky and I don’t mind wicky wacky or even ticky tacky but I definitely mind bad wacky and I hereby banish bad wacky to Bad WackyWorld. I think everyone here knows how I feel about negativity. I simply will not allow it in my life, my home, my proximity, and when it enters any of those zones I revolt and want to get as far away as I can. I was going to say at my age who needs it, but you know what, who needs it at ANY age? In any case, I’m pondering, oh, yes, I’m pondering, but the one thing I know is that there will be no negativity anywhere near me starting here, starting now. What am I, Maltby and Shire all of a sudden? What the HELL am I talking about? And now it’s all late because I just had a long telephonic call and now I’ve got to finish these here notes in a hurry so I’m feeling just a little wicky wacky and ticky tacky. In any case, yesterday, as noted, was a wacky day. I got up a little later than I’d intended because I was up till three in the morning approving the new Kritzerland master. I had to do that because my mastering guy was heading off to Europe for ten days and was leaving in the morning – so I had to approve so he could send the master to the pressing plant. Thankfully, it sounded fine and I approved it. Had it not sounded fine, I would have had to wait ten days to fix it. The irksome thing about that was that three weeks ago when I found out about his trip I told him we needed to have two projects done before he left. And he didn’t even start on project one until two days ago. Obviously project two didn’t get done and he’ll now have four days to do it when he gets back and it is not an easy project. I know what happened – there are two other labels who use him, and one fellow does work for both labels and is such a bully with this guy that my projects always get put on the back burner so that his can get done. One of these labels is gluttonous in their release schedule, but when my guy gets back we’ll be having a long conversation about this because I’m not being shoved into the background anymore. This guy does great work and he really likes me, and he does not really like these other people, so hopefully this will go down the way I need it to. At ten-thirty, we began a work session. At noon my helper arrived. Shortly thereafter I ended the work session early for various reasons. The helper got all the packages addresses and then put postage on them, while I attended to various and sundried other things. So, the morning was the bad wacky time. Once the helper finished, we had a nice chat about things we need to get done, and then I went and picked up a package and no mail and went to Gelson’s. I was suddenly in the mood to cook. I haven’t really made an actual meal for myself in ages. So, I bought some chicken breasts, some mushrooms, an onion, some sour cream, some cream of mushroom soup, and a few other things and then I came home. I sautéed the chicken, mushrooms and onions, then made a stroganoff sauce and put the whole thing over rice. It was really yummilicious and just what the doctor ordered. I am so tired of the doctor always ordering what I do, but that’s another story. It was very filling, but mostly calorie and fat gram friendly. After eating that, I waddled back to the computer and did some work, and by that time the day was done and done was the day. That was the good wacky part of the day. After that, I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a motion picture on Blu and Ray entitled Stagecoach, a film of John Ford, starring John Wayne, Claire Trevor, Thomas Mitchell, John Carradine, Andy Devine, and many others. I don’t really have much to say about the film itself, other than it’s wildly entertaining, beautifully done, and a rip-roaring western classic. The transfer is better than I’d heard from some of our esteemed online “critics.” The camera negative for Stagecoach has been long lost, but Criterion managed to find a nitrate dupe negative – just what generation this dupe negative was is not mentioned. But the transfer is much better looking than any previous home video release of this film. It’s mostly sharp, with good contrast – yes, there are scratches and sections which look very dupey and many generations away from the camera negative, but I was pretty happy with it, and I loved seeing the movie again.

After that, I did some more work on the computer, then had the long telephonic call that I mentioned above and then I had to be wicky wacky and finish this section very quickly. Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I feel there is more wicky wacky ticky tacky stuff coming.

Today, we only want good wacky. I shall be up very early, CDs will hopefully arrive by nine or soon thereafter, and the helper will be here at nine, as well. We’ll get everything boxed up, then do the big dealer orders, and then hopefully get everything to the postal office by eleven or eleven-thirty. After that, we’ll go somewhere fun for lunch, then we’ll come back and finally start doing some of the organizing we’ve been putting off for way too long. She’ll be here until two and then the rest of the day is mine all mine. I will start writing the scene I’m working on for the new project that David Wechter and I are working on. And I will continue to explore what could be a very exciting upcoming project for me – it’s in the really exploratory stages but is the result of the lunch meeting I had the other day. I have no idea if it will ever come to pass, but if it did I will be a very happy camper, and I know several people on this here site will be very happy campers, too. And no, this doesn’t involve a CD release.

Tomorrow, I had to reconfigure my day, but I have quite a few things to attend to, and the weekend dance card has suddenly filled up – but the good news is, it’s a long weekend and I am so ready for a long weekend. I will have no more meetings until Tuesday. O Joy! O Rapture!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, ship CDs and dealer orders, I must have a fun lunch, I must organize, I must write, and then I must relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your all-time favorite John Ford films? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and while they may be wacky, make them good wacky or wicky wacky or ticky tacky.
