June 1, 2010:

A FINE HOW DO YOU DO

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, here is a fine how do you do – it is June. Just like that. Bustin’ out all over. June, June, June (that is three Junes). Dainty June. Baby June. Jejune. June Moon. Yes, it is June and let us just say right here and now and also now and here that we wish everyone a June filled with health, wealth, happiness, and creativity. Yes, THAT’S the kind of June we want. Isn’t that a fine how do you do? I greet June with open arms and open toes. Now the astonishing thing about June is that we are now in the sixth month of the year I like to call 2010. That just boggles my already boggled mind. I tell you, this year is flying by, like a gazelle doing the Locomotion. In any case, it’s June! The last day of May was, in certain ways, quite odd, but in other ways quite nice. Yesterday began with printing out quite a nice number of orders, surprising really, since many people were still away for the holiday weekend. Then I had a telephonic call that needed to happen. It was a difficult call for any number of reasons, but it’s done now and I think the result of the call is for the best. I then did some work on the computer, had a visit from Mr. Nick Redman and our pal Julie Kirgo, and that was, as always lovely. Then I printed out more orders, packed up a couple of orders, and then it was already time to mosey on over to Genghis Cohen for dinner.

Dinner was divoon. We had my favorite waitress, the food was all top-notch (and there was a lot of it). It was nice to meet the mother and sister of the helper and we all had quite a good time. We laughed and laughed and just when we thought we could laugh no more, we laughed again. After dinner, I waddled to my motor car and then drove home. I then answered quite a few e-mails, printed out more orders and then sat on my couch like so much fish and ate a drumstick of the ice cream kind.

Last night, I began watching a motion picture on Blu and Ray entitled Top Gun. Top Gun was a very popular motion picture back in the day – it made Tom Cruise a bona fide superstar. I saw it back then and hated every minute of it. Time has not been kind to it in any way, and it’s still this terrible movie with risible dialogue, over-the-top direction by Tony Scott, and horrid music. Seeing the first thirty minutes of it in 2010 is like watching a Zucker Brothers parody – it’s just hilariously bad. I’ll try to slog through the rest of it, as it is providing some laughs. Thus far, the transfer is not so great – not nearly as sharp as it should be.

After the movie, there were more e-mails, more orders, and that was that. Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because it’s June, June, June and that, as they say, IS a fine how do you do.

Today, I have some errands and whatnot to do in the morning hours, and then I have to bring a whole slew o’ tapes to my tape transfer guy – a lot of stuff to go through, and then he’ll be transferring about eight to ten tapes. That will take at least a couple of hours, then I’ll come home and write, hopefully pick up a package or three and some way overdue mail, and then the rest of the evening is mine all mine.

Tomorrow helper will be here and we’ll continue our organizing and we’ll get all these boxes that have been piling up, out into the garage environment. Then we’ll have several orders to pack up and also some stuff to do on the Internet. Once all that is done, she’ll be on her merry way and I’ll do whatever else I have to do. The rest of the week is more of the same – writing, meetings, and meals.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do errands and whatnot, visit the tape transfer guy, pick up packages and overdue mail and then eat something light but fun. Today’s topic of discussion: The 1980s produced some really fine motion pictures and some really bad, cheesy, and typically 80s films. What are your favorites from that decade, and your least favorites? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst we hope for a June that is filled with health, wealth, happiness, and creativity and that would indeed be a fine how do you do.
