THE HEARTBREAK OF PSORIASIS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, this week is flying by, like a gazelle suffering from the heartbreak of psoriasis, which is why the gazelle uses Tegrin shampoo. This has already been an exhausting week, what with the heartbreak of the helper, the weird Internet problem, and little annoyances such as those. Of course, we also had the best single day of orders in Kritzerland history, and I’ve had several nice telephonic conversations, and several nice people offering advice on both the heartbreak of psoriasis and the helper, not necessarily in that order. The helper problem reached its apex yesterday. I’d written the helper a text in the morning saying I was on my way to Hugo’s and if it was easy for her to just bring the invoices there and that I’d even buy her a nice lunch. I heard nothing. Then I got a text at around two saying how sweet it was of me and that she didn’t deserve my kindness, but that she appreciated it – she told me she was being a nanny till five and would bring the box over after that. I replied, “Great, thanks!” I never heard from her. At six-thirty I texted her and nicely asked if she was coming as promised, and if she wasn’t to please let me know what was what. Not a peep. That was it for me. I wrote her a final e-mail at ten, again very nice and calm, but stating there is clearly something going on that I’m not understanding, and that all I need are the invoices. I said I can’t be any nicer, kinder, more gentle or offer more options. I told her I’m out of time. So, I gave her two options – have the invoices here by noon or at my mail place by noon today. That’s it. I also asked her if she’d lost them or thrown them out – and if so, to please just tell me. I reiterated that I would not yell or give her a hard time if she’d lost them, just to give me the courtesy of the truth. I told her that if the invoices weren’t here or at the mail place by noon that she was leaving me no choice other than to contact my lawyer and let him handle this from now on. I’d already left a message for a lawyer a little while earlier – I should hear back from him today. I also got her mother’s phone number and I may call her tomorrow. And, best of all, I may be getting the helper’s address first thing in the morning. So, this is going to end one way or another this week. If I don’t get the invoices back, then I’ll have my new helper go into my saved mails and do the tallies from there. This has been completely frustrating and maddening and I want it over, because it’s a real energy drain. Such a silly thing for an aspiring actress to do, and apparently I’m not the only one she’s done this sort of thing to.

Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play? I got up around nine, printed out more orders, answered e-mails, then realized the computer wasn’t doing its hourly backups. I couldn’t figure out why, so I called Apple in a roundabout way (you can’t call the 800 number because they’re taking reservations for the new iPhone and the lines are jammed). Apparently, when we were resetting Time Machine yesterday, and renaming it, we had to go into Time Capsule and select the device – once we’d done that, all was well. I had a nice lunch at Hugo’s and ran into my pal Anne Kerry Ford. Then I picked up a couple of packages, then came back home. I then proceeded to write nine pages of our new script, which I then sent to David Wechter. He professed to love them, especially the dialogue – that was good news because it was nine pages of sheer exposition that I found a funny way of doing. By the time that was all finished, the day was done. I solicited some opinions on the helper situation, listened to music and watched half of the new Blu and Ray of Showgirls, about which more when I finish. I did switch to cable to see what movies they were showing, but the image was weird, like posterized – what would cause that? Can’t be the TV, since Showgirls looked great. Hopefully, it will be fixed today.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below whilst we all commiserate with the gazelle on the heartbreak of psoriasis.

Today, I’ll be speaking to a lawyer, I may be speaking to the helper’s mother, I’ll be writing, I’ll be eating something light and fun, I’ll be doing errands and whatnot, I’ll hopefully be picking up some packages, I’ll be ordering a lot of boxes and I will hopefully have my box o’ invoices by noon.

Tomorrow I have stuff to do and do it I shall, and then I’m having dinner. Friday, I’ll probably be having a dinner, too. Saturday, I may get together with dear reader Jeanne, and Sunday I’m prepping the next release and writing the liner notes for it.

On Monday, the new helper starts, and I think I’ll use him three days this first week – especially if the invoices don’t get returned – I’ll start him on tallying the invoices from my saved mail file. That’s probably three hours of work right there, but I need to get it done. It will be much easier if the invoices come back.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, speak to a lawyer, I must maybe call a mother, I must hope for the best, returned invoices-wise, I must eat, and I must write. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst we ponder the heartbreak of psoriasis.
