August 18, 2010:

I MUST DANCE!

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, this week is flying by, like a gazelle with a hernia. I’m quite tired as I write these here notes and I’m hoping I get a good night’s sleep this evening because I need a good night’s sleep, not having had one in three nights. As I write these here notes I am listening to Mr. Igor Stravinsky’s marvelously marvelous The Firebird ballet. What a wonderful composer Mr. Stravinsky was. I just received a box set of all his works, most conducted by him and all released by Columbia Records back in the day. These are incredible sounding recordings, gorgeously performed. This box has like seventeen CDs and cost thirty bucks on amazon.uk. I am also very hungry at the moment but have nothing but junk in the house and the one thing I am not in the mood for is junk. I don’t want a Rice Krispie treat – I am done with Rice Krispie treats – looking at them in the cupboard makes me want to vomit on the ground. I don’t want Fruity Snacks – I have OD’d on Fruity Snacks. I have a can of soup but I do not want anything from a can, let alone soup. So, the question becomes exactly how hungry am I? Do I finish the notes early, get them posted, and then go have an egg or something light? It is a conundrum. So, let me proceed apace so I can make a food decision. I had a perfectly pleasant day yesterday doing perfectly pleasant things. I got up early (like seven), did some work on the computer and then did a telephonic phone interview for the book – I don’t really know what it was for, but when it comes out I’ll let you know where you can find it. It was extremely hot in the City of Studio yesterday, and, as a matter of fact, it’s still extremely hot, especially in the home environment. In fact, I’d better turn on the air or I shan’t be able to sleep. I listened to a couple of upcoming Kritzerland projects, and then I did a two-mile jog. I know I did some other things after that, but I cannot remember what they were. Then I went to the mail place and picked up no envelopes and three packages, after which I moseyed on over to Hugo’s, where I had a leisurely luncheon and ate a barbecue turkey sandwich and a small Caesar salad. After that, I came home and went back to work on the current scene I’ve been writing for the project with David Wechter. I finished it in about two hours and I must say it came out very amusingly. I sent it off to David, and then I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I wasn’t in the mood for watching a complete motion picture so I watched the making of Psycho documentary on the newly released Blu and Ray. This documentary was actually made in 1997 for a DVD release – I saw it back then, but it was fun to revisit it – it’s poorly done but has interesting people in it, all of whom, save for one, were connected with the film in one way or another, including Janet Leigh, Joseph Stefano, and assistant director Hilton Green. That was quite long and when I finished it, I decided to do another mile and a half jog, which is probably why I’m so hungry now. I also feel like doing some ballet dancing as I’m listening to The Firebird. I want to leap about in my colored tights and pantaloons, doing high kicks and leaps and turns. Where was I? Oh, yes, I did a second jog and had a long telephonic conversation and then decided it was time to write these here notes just in case I felt like getting a snack or something.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must DANCE – I must put on The Red Shoes and DANCE. I must dye my hair read and change my name to Victoria Page. In the meantime, click away.

Today, I shall hopefully arise after a good night’s sleep. I shall then do a jog and some errands and whatnot, and then Miss Alet Taylor and Mr. Shelly Markham are coming over at noon to rehearse her numbers. That should only take thirty minutes, and then I’ll probably lunch. After that, I have to work on liner notes and do a few other things.

Tomorrow, Mr. Jason Graae, Mr. Damon Kirsche, and hopefully Miss Lesli Margherita will all be there to rehearse their respective numbers with Mr. Shelly Markham. But before they arrive, the helper will be here and we’ll be shipping out all the Saint Joan CDs. And I think I’m doing something that has something to do with something on Thursday evening, but I can’t remember what it is, but I DO remember that I told someone to remind me, so that’s good. Oh, now I remember – it’s editing the clip reel for the JMK event. Whew!

Friday may end up being an easy day, although I have to do all the prep work for our Monday soundtrack announcement – I’m still waiting on the packaging approval, which I hope will come by Thursday – if not, I’ll try to prod them along. I should also be getting the master for approval soon.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do a jog, rehearse, eat, do errands and whatnot, write liner notes, and then watch a motion picture entertainment. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I dance because I must DANCE, I must wear not only my Red Shoes, but my Green Shoes, and I must DANCE.
