THE HUNGER

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am writing these here notes early and I am posting these here notes early because I am hungry and I must go out and satisfy these hunger pangs before I fall over. I really didn’t think I’d need to eat again until I realized that I only had a small turkey sandwich at noon, after which I only had some Fruity Snacks and a Rice Krispies thing. So, I’ll go have some soup or some eggs – something light and airy that will put to rest these pangs of hunger that are gnawing at me like a gazelle in traction. So, yesterday was quite a fun day, although I have little memory of why it was fun. It was long, and I ended up doing more stuff than I thought I would do, but it was all good. I got a decent night’s sleep, then got up, answered e-mails, had a couple of telephonic conversations, after which I had a short visit with Miss Lesli Margherita, who picked up her sheet music and CD for the Gardenia show. She’s really a nice gal and a lot of fun. After that, I went and had my sandwich, after which I did some banking, did a few errands and whatnot, picked up no packages and no important mail, and then came home. I was going to just do nothing else, but I had to approve our new master, then I wrote the blurb for it, then I sent the audio samples to the web guy, and then I read the notes for the release that follows next week’s release – those notes are not by me, but by our very own Mr. Nick Redman, and they’re really excellent. We’re doing a twelve-page booklet for that release and his notes are filled with good history and fun facts and are beautifully written. I then sent those and the track information to the designer who, shockingly, finished the booklet and tray cards and sent them to me for proofing. I sent them to Nick and to the company we’re licensing from – hopefully, everything will be fine and dandy and also dandy and fine. I then did a mile and a half jog, after which I finally sat on my couch like so much fish and watched about five episodes of Adam-12. There were some really good ones in the batch, and, as always, some classic location shots – including some great Hollywood shots circa 1972. And one great shot of the El Portal Theater when it showed movies. And unlike the humor they attempt on Dragnet, the humor on Adam-12 is actually pretty amusing and droll. It really helps having Martin Milner anchor the show – what a terrific actor he is. And Kent McCord is a perfect partner for him – not a great actor, but just what the role needs. I find the show completely addicitive.

After that, I checked out the high definitions transfers of some movies on my DVR – Vera Cruz, which doesn’t look so hot mostly because of its faded color, The Stranger with Orson Welles – also not that great-looking, and Witness for the Prosecution, which looks really good. I’ll be watching all those over the weekend. I then did another half-mile jog, just to do it.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because The Hunger is gnawing at my innards and my innards are not happy about it.

Today, I’ll be meeting our very own JMK at Jerry’s Deli at ten, to discuss the November event I’m doing in Portland. We’ll go over everything whilst eating our eggs, and then we may come back to the home environment, too. At one, I have a two-hour work session with Mr. Kevin Spirtas and Mr. John Boswell to start figuring out the new show we’re putting together. I’m very much looking forward to it. Then I have errands and whatnot and a jog to do, and hopefully some packages and good mail will arrive.

The weekend was formerly free, but has filled up somewhat. Still, I’ll have some time for viewing and eating and also eating and viewing. Next week, we’ll be doing some rehearsing for the Gardenia show, and there is a lot of other stuff going on next week, as well.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, meet JMK, have a work session, jog, do errands and whatnot, hopefully pick up packages and good mail, and then relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/video player? I’ll start – CD, various and sundried upcoming Kritzerland projects. Oh, and speaking of the latter, I locked up about eight more yesterday. DVD, the final disc of Adam-12, Season Five, and then maybe the Blu and Ray of Pandora and the Flying Dutchman. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I go satisfy The Hunger. Addendum: Mr. Kritzerland designer is meeting me for a snack at Jerry’s Deli. Good to know that someone in the city of Los Angeles has some adventure left.
