THE RUN-ON NOTES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, the big shipping days really take it out of me, even though, truth be told, the wonderful helper does most of the work now. I used to help the helper, but I’ve got so much else going on that the helper helps herself now. I did lug some boxes to the car, though, but whilst she was packaging I was taking care of some Internet business. I have a lot of work to do prepping our next release because I have to be done with it all before I leave for New York, New York, the city that never sleeps. I also have to work out all our Gardenia rehearsal schedules, which, as always, is arduous, especially in this next show, which has a larger number than usual amount of duets. We’ll get it all worked out, though. It took about three solid hours to get all the Sugar CDs packaged and out the door. Then we drove to the postal office and dropped them all on the loading dock. After that, we went to the storage facility, and thankfully the Rebecca Luker box was right on top of a pile and very easy to get to. But unfortunately, only one of the two charts she needed was there – I’m sending her that. Then we dropped off the one UPS Store package, and I picked up about four packages – small but fun stuff. Then the helper left and I did some more work on the computer and also had several long telephonic conversations about various and sundried things. By that time I was starving, so I went over to Hugo’s and had a very good luncheon. Then it was back here and more work – I made a tentative order for the next Gardenia show, and e-mailed our singers about their schedules for rehearsal. I did a short jog, and then sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched the special features on the Mulholland Drive Blu and Ray – I hadn’t seen any of the behind-the-scenes featurettes – I usually don’t like them, but these were very interesting and had lots of interviews with David Lynch and the two female stars. After that, I started to watch the Blu and Ray of Jean-Pierre Melville’s Une Cercle Rouge – I got about forty minutes in but I kept dozing off, so I decided to finish it today. So, I came back to the computer and just worked for the rest of the evening, and I finally did a Facebook event for the NY signing next Friday. I can’t even believe it’s happening next Friday. Already I’m getting responses like, “I can’t make it, I’m in rehearsals” and “I can’t make it, I’m going to a Yankees game.” Well, I hope SOMEONE can make it or I’ll be standing there like so much fish. I think the plan is also to go and eat afterwards, either at Joe Allen or the Brooklyn Diner. I’m actually thinking the latter might be more conducive to a large group of folks, and I think it’s a little cheaper there. We could also probably take over the third floor of Angus. I’m open to any suggestions, but we should probably figure it out before I get there.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I’m really tired and I’ve got a bunch o’ stuff to do today.

Today, I have a bunch o’ stuff to do. I have to write liner notes for the new release and get all that stuff done. There are no cue titles for the music and I’ve never seen the film and the film has never been available on home video so there’s no way to see the film even if I WANTED to see the film which I don’t and I don’t know if anyone has noticed but this has turned into one of those fershluganah run-on sentences with no punctuation and no end in sight no it just keeps going and going and frankly I need a period right about now. Whew. So, I basically have to either make up cue titles (which probably would be fun, given the nature of this particular film) or I can just call them Cue 1, Cue 2, but that’s just boring. I think I’ll make ’em up. I’ll definitely do a jog, I’ll definitely eat something fun and not too heavy, and I’ll definitely do some errands and whatnot and perhaps drop off a box o’ CDs to a local dealer – if not today, then tomorrow.

Tomorrow, if not today, I’ll drop off a box o’ CDs to a local dealer. Then at two I’ll be having lunch with dear reader Jeanne, which I’m looking forward to. Then I have some errands and whatnot to do and then I have a little meeting in the early evening. Then I’ll watch the new episode of Mad Men.

This coming week will be very busy, as I’ll try to get everything done for the new release by Wednesday, so I don’t have to worry about any of that whilst I’m in NY.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do a jog, write liner notes, write amusing cue titles, eat, jog, and whatever else my little heart desires. Today’s topic of discussion: What is the one genre of film that you absolutely don’t like, that you go out of your way to avoid? Why don’t you like it, and have you ever seen a film in that genre that you did like? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I
