THE CHRISTMAS SONG

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, chestnuts are roasting on an open fire and Jack Frost is nipping at our collective noses, so it must be getting close to Christmas when everyone is singing The Christmas Song. Frankly, my chestnuts are not roasting on an open fire. No, my chestnuts are roasting on a closed fire because my chestnuts are contrary. My Chestnuts Are Contrary – that’s the title of my next novel. And speaking of chestnuts, that reminds me of the story of The Randy Vicar and The Chestnuts. And just what does a nut have to do with a chest? Can you only eat chestnuts on your chest? Can you only eat hazelnuts if you’re named Hazel or if you’re a maid? I don’t even want to talk about peanuts. These nut names are an enigma wrapped inside of a conundrum, or vice versa or even versa vice. In any case, in the spirit of Christmas, I’ve got my nuts on my chest, and I think that’s as far as I care to go with THAT. Now, just who in tarnation is Jack Frost and why is the little bugger nipping at my nose? I never nipped at Jack Frost’s nose, and yet the little bugger is nipping at my nose. I think Jack Frost better go stand in the corner with Little Jack Horner and Big Bopper. What the HELL am I talking about? Don’t I have notes to write? I have to tell you, yesterday was quite a busy day. Yesterday was quite a busy day. There, I had to tell you and now I have. I got up a little late, the helper and I shipped many packages and ate some Muffies, and then I had to mosey on over to some weird coffee shop in the middle of Griffith Park at some weird golf course. I must say that Griffith Park is HUGE. Griffith Park is HUGE. There, I must say it and now I have. It turns out that the weird coffee shop has very good foodstuffs – I had a very good chicken salad sandwich with bacon. I was lunching with several film score enthusiasts who were waxing enthusiastically about film scores. It was very dishy, and we all had quite a fun time. I must say, no one was spared. No one was spared. There, I must say it and now I have. After lunch, I went to the mail place where, irritatingly, I picked up no mail and no packages. This did not make me happy. Then I finally came home. I listened to one of our 2011 releases – the rough pre-mastering assembly, and boy is it great – one of my favorite scores, finally going to see the light of day. Then I had to get some packaging stuff for a 2011 release to someone who’s helping make sure everything is right so that the approvals process can hopefully move along a little more quickly than usual. Then I sent off the second CD package for approval, which will hopefully come today so we can get these two titles to the printers. I’ll probably announce the two titles here for you dear readers Saturday at midnight, maybe even Friday at midnight – we shall see. I went to Gelson’s and got a few crab claws and had those and two bagels for the evening meal. I then sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I began watching a motion picture on Blu and Ray entitled Micmacs, a French motion picture from France, one of those whimsical affairs by the man who directed Amelie. I’m only forty minutes in, but thus far it is whimsical. I’ll finish it this very evening.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I’ve got nuts on my chest and a closed fire and some twerp named Jack Frost nipping at my fershluganah nose, on top of which I must get my beauty sleep.

Today, I have a lunch appointment to have lunch, I have to pay some Kritzerland bills, I have to make sure things get to the printers, I have some lyrics to write and I have to try and do a rough tentative order for the Linda and Greg Show. And hopefully I’ll get a jog in, and I’ll hopefully pick up a package or three and perhaps an important envelope, although I suspect the latter won’t be there until Saturday.

Tomorrow, I’m hoping for a relaxing day – but I suspect I’ll have at least one master to listen to and approve, hopefully followed by another master to listen to and approve. Saturday we have a two-hour rehearsal for the Linda and Greg Show, and then I’m truly hoping for a completely free Sunday, although I do have to prep our eBlast for our two releases. Monday morning we announce, and then it’s Christmas vacation. I’ll have plenty of stuff to do, but I’m hoping for a few days of ME time in there somewhere.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do a jog, have a lunch meeting, pay some bills, get stuff to the printers, write some lyrics and make an order, and pick up a package or three. Today’s topic of discussion: What are you all-time favorite films starring Bette Davis – and what are your all-time favorite films starring one of my favorite actors – Henry Fonda. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland with chestnuts roasting on an open and closed fire and Jack Frost nipping at my nose, and Yuletide carols being sung by a choir and folks dressed up like Eskimos – in other words, my dreams shall be like The Christmas Song.
