THE ERRATIC MOUSE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am currently uploading a video to You and Tube and therefore everything on this here computer is running very slowly, for reasons I will never understand, since I’m not even using a third of the hard drive’s capability. But there’s nothing to be done until the video is uploaded, some ninety minutes from now. My mouse is especially behaving erratically. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like my mouse to behave erratically, I like my mouse to behave normally. In fact, I have had several weirdnesses on this here computer today, including some totally off-the-wall pop-up windows when working on a couple of Word documents. After doing some research online, it was recommended that restarting the computer clears the Word memory, and after doing that I haven’t had the problem yet – of course, I also haven’t been working on a Word document yet, save for these here notes right now. I had a non-stop day yesterday, from morn to evening, with only a few breaks in between. I got up early, futzed and fixed what I’d written the day before, answered e-mails, and then began writing new pages. I did about three, then decided to go have some bacon and eggs. After that, I came back home and continued writing, doing another three pages, finishing a chapter, and beginning a new chapter. Then I wrote the liner notes for our next release and sent that off to the designer. He was able to finish the booklet in no time, and now it will be sent off for approval. After that, I decided to sit on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched the making-of documentary on The Social Network. I found it not so interesting, and frankly a little off-putting, especially Mr. Fincher’s penchant for doing 100 takes. I don’t care how good or bad a director is, that’s just ridiculous. The young actors all fawn over that, saying it really gives them a chance to feel no pressure and just get it right. You know what – get it right after five takes or get out of the business. Actors today are so coddled and whatever they’re learning from idiot teachers is really ridiculous. That lasted about ninety interminable minutes and while I really do love the film itself, I love it a little less after having seen these people do what they do. From now on, no more watching these behind the scenes things – they’re so pointless and they actually are doing their films a great disservice.

After that, I wrote another four pages, for a total of ten, which was just what I’d wanted to do for the day. Then I began uploading the two videos to You and Tube, and I think I’ll just go to bed and let it complete by itself.

I think we’re going to try and do a cast album release a week after Monday’s release. That will enable me to get back on a better week for our soundtrack releases. I’m pretty sure we can have it ready in time – it’s a fairly easy mastering job. I’m hoping that release will please our show music collectors – it’s certainly something I’ve wanted for quite some time, and it’s never been on CD before.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I have had it up to here with the erratic mouse, which is making navigating these here notes very difficult. Plus, I need my beauty sleep.

Today, I have no plans other than to write. I do have to work on the redo of the lyrics, but I’ll take a few breaks I’m sure and can do that then. I also hope to pick up a package or three and more importantly an important envelope that didn’t arrive yesterday. At some point, I’ll eat something light and amusing, and then I’ll be home in the evening to watch a motion picture or three.

Tomorrow, I’ll be writing during the day, and then going to see Jason Graae’s cabaret act. I’m looking forward to that very much. Starting Monday, I have stuff every day and most evenings, too, but I should be able to do my writing in the morning and evening hours, so that should all work out fine.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example write, do lyrics, do errands and whatnot, hopefully pick up an important envelope, eat, and watch a motion picture. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your all-time favorite side dishes? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland and hope that when I arise the erratic mouse will be back to normal.
