A LITTLE MONTH I LIKE TO CALL FEBRUARY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but I do believe we’ve just begun a brand spanking new month, a little month I like to call February. My fervent prayer is that February is a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful.

I have to say that sometimes work is just too much fun. Doing this quick little two-person show with Linda Purl and Gregory Harrison being a prime example. They’re both so talented and so bright and it’s just such a pleasure to sit and listen to them sing. And the show’s structure seems really sound, the show order is good, as are the song choices. Yesterday, they sang through everything. For the time being, we ended up taking out a duet, but we could put it back depending on the length of the show. But for now, we have a solid fourteen songs, but one that we count as part of the fourteen is actually made up of seven songs, a ten-minute medley. They each get a chance to shine in solo turns, and the duets are really fun, especially the opening number – we all sort of decided on the three songs involved, and then Boswell and I did the arrangement, which came out great. We basically have until Saturday to get the show on its feet and comfortable for them, then they’re both gone until the day before the show in Florida. I am trying to work it out so I can fly there, as I think it would probably be helpful – we’ll see how that all goes. After the rehearsal, Linda and I went to lunch – we’re thinking about doing a new CD for her and we discussed the logistics of it and when it might happen. Prior to the rehearsal, I’d answered a lot of e-mails and returned a few telephonic calls. After lunch, I picked up no packages and some bills. Then I came home and did stuff on the computer, and got all the materials for our upcoming announcements to the web guy, so that all will be ready to go for this rather large two CD release next Monday – one world premiere soundtrack by one of the greatest film composers who ever composed (a double-bill – two complete scores for the price of one complete score), and one cast album release. I won’t have the audio samples for the show release until late in the week, but the film soundtrack page is done and ready, and so is the show page sans the samples. I’ll announce early here because if you want either of these you’ll probably want to order in advance – I think both titles will move quickly, especially the double-bill soundtrack, even though the limitation on that title is more than usual, 1500 to be exact.

Other than that, I just did stuff on the computer, had to completely reboot and restore the home environment iPod, which was fried for some reason – it’s working fine now. I never did get to print out the new book and actually won’t have time to until Wednesday morning.

I wasn’t really in the mood to watch a motion picture on Blu and Ray so instead actually caught up on some CD listening – there’s probably a stack of seventy CDs that I haven’t even opened, so it’s nice to finally start going through them.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because my eyelids are drooping so I really must toddle off to the bedroom environment so I can get my beauty sleep.

Today, I must be up early and do some banking, after which we have a noon to four rehearsal with Linda and Gregory, basically just drilling the music and figuring out the patter. Then, an hour later, our cast of merry players arrives and we do our stumble-through for the Gardenia show, after which anyone can stay and run things. Then at seven-thirty I’m going to a small dinner at the Daily Grill, a little birthday gathering for Shelly Markham.

Wednesday, Linda and Greg will be working on their own, whilst I print out my book, do a sound check, and then do the show. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are all rehearsal days in a rehearsal studio. Directly after our three-hour rehearsal on Saturday I’ll head over to the Pasadena Book Fair.

Let’s all put on our pointy party hats and colored tights and pantaloons, let’s all break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, let’s all dance the Hora and the mambo (MAMBO!) because today we’ve got us two count them two birthdays to celebrate. The first birthday to celebrate is our very own dear reader Kerry. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to our very own dear reader Kerry. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO OUR VERY OWN DEAR READER KERRY!!!

Our second birthday boy is our very own and very special disc jockey extraordinaire, Mr. Donald Feltham. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to our very own and very special disc jockey extraordinaire, Mr. Donald Feltham. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO OUR VERY OWN AND VERY SPECIAL DISC JOCKEY EXTRAORDINAIRE, MR. DONALD FELTHAM!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do banking, have a rehearsal, have another rehearsal, and attend a small birthday dinner. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite vegetable or vegetarian recipes and dishes, those that even a non-vegetarian couldn’t resist? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland and pray that Feburary is a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful.
