VEAL OSCAR

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I never has seen snow, at least in the City of Studio, but yesterday I has seen snow and yes it was in the City of Studio. If that isn’t proof that the world is off its axis, I don’t know what is. The most interesting thing is that during the height of it, the sun was partially out. Three blocks from the sun partially being out it was gray as could be. The world is in deep something-or-other and more proof of that was that I paid just under four dollars for a gallon of gas. When this happened in 2008 motorists had had enough and they curbed their driving habits, cut their vacations if driving was involved and do you know what happened? Well, I’ll tell you what happened – gas prices dropped by one dollar, that’s what happened. So, perhaps it’s time for people to pull a Network and just say, “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore.” Because this has to stop. The oil companies are making more profit than they ever have and what they HAVE made was obscene to begin with. I don’t want to hear any bushwa about anything – if the government would only step in, as they have in the past, and threaten the oil companies with huge tax penalties, prices would drop immediately. So, my advice to all drivers is to take one day a week and find another form of transportation – two days is even better. Don’t take any frivolous drives. If five million people do that, it will change. If not, it will just keep going up until this country explodes. Note to country: Stop being sheep, stop doing what they tell you, stop being held down, stop being afraid. STAND UP and fight and be mad as hell, because you should be. That’s the only way things can get better. I mean, when sixty dollars doesn’t buy you a full tank of gas then something is seriously wrong with the way we live. Do it, do it now – the time is nigh. End of rant.

Yesterday was a weird little day of dealing with interim helper business – it got a little tense but I think as of Monday we’ll have everything back. If we don’t, I’m going to have to get tough in a way no one is going to like and it will be much easier to simply return all property from whence it came. One more PEEP out of this interim helper and his girlfriend is out of a job and she’ll be told exactly why, which will not make her happy. Plus, I had an annoying phone message but one that can’t be dealt with until Monday – it’s nothing to worry about, just another non-problem caused by a jealous competitor who spends every waking minute trying to cause Kritzerland problems. The fact that he has not succeeded ever should tell him something, but on he goes. The person who left the message is going to get an earful come Monday because I will discuss nothing with her until she acknowledges that this jealous mo-fo was the one who caused the call to be made. IF she acknowledges that, then I will at least speak to her and tell her all about this jerk. After that, everything was nicer. I did a few errands and whatnot, picked up the important envelope and one small package (but not what I’ve been expecting), and came home and began figuring out an upcoming Kritzerland project. I was able to download a film from the Internet (in Avi format) then downloaded a VLC player to watch it. Part one worked fine, but when I went to part two, the little player control icon was there and it was clearly playing but I couldn’t figure out how to get the screen back to watch it. If anyone knows, let me know. After that, I had dinner at Little Toni’s. I don’t know what it is about that place, but after I have a small salad and bread I can barely eat anything else, I’m so full. I ordered spaghetti with one meatball and one sausage and three bites in I was full. I ate the meatball and sausage and only about two ounces of the spaghetti – I was simply ready to explode and could eat no more. After that, I came home and sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a motion picture I’d TIVOd in high definitions entitled Witness For The Prosecution. I’ve written about this film many times – suffice it to say, I love it, it’s brilliantly plotted, with great quotable dialogue, incredible performances (I defy you to cast this film with today’s actors), and a devilishly good ending. It’s a beautiful transfer and one can only hope it will find its way onto Blu and Ray soon.

Then I wrote the blurb for our new release, and waited for the master to come up on our iDisk but it didn’t, so I suppose it will be there this morning, at least I hope so. Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because we must get our beauty sleep so we’re awake and alert for our Annual Oscar Bash.

Today, I shall listen to our new master, I shall eat something light but amusing (I’m thinking my low-fat, low-cal hot dogs – I always lose weight when I eat those, and boy do I need to lose weight), and then it will be time for our Annual Oscar Bash. We’ve already had some defectors, but this is the place to be, baby – nothing else compares, and those who are here year in and year out know that. So, be there or be round.

I finally made the decision not to do the reading of Death Of A Salesman – it’s just happening on a bad week – if we weren’t doing the Gardenia this week, I probably would have done it. Tomorrow I have a lot of errands and whatnot to do, I’ll have to have that telephonic conversation, which will either end in me hanging up or be okay – we shall see. And we’ll announce our new title and I’ll hopefully print out a LOT of orders.

Tuesday we have our stumble-through, Wednesday is sound check and show time, and then I’ve got meetings and meals for the rest of the week, and The Singer and I begin putting her show on its feet.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, listen to our new master, and then have our Oscar Bash. Perhaps I’ll have some Veal Oscar whilst watching. I wonder what Brad Oscar will be doing on Oscar night? Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst we get ready for our Veal Oscar Bash.
