July 30, 2011:

SO LET ME GET RIGHT TO THE POINT

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, what a revoltin’ development this is. Unbeknownst to the likes of me, I thought I’d cut and pasted in part one of the notes, which I’d written lovingly. But somehow what got cut and pasted in were my liner notes for our next Kritzerland release. I’d cut and pasted those earlier in the evening to pare them down for our announcement. Obviously, when I did the cut and paste for part one of the notes, it didn’t take. How HEINOUS. HEINOUS, do you hear me? So, let me try to reconstruct at least some of what they were about. Okay – go.

I had seven hours of sleep. Oh, well. CDs and helper arrived and everything got shipped. Oh, yeah, and the notes began, as they always do, Well, dear readers, let me get right to the point and then I did a Sweet Charity joke. It was most amusing but won’t be now. Then I did the four-mile jog, wrote, picked up packages, and then we had our second Gardenia rehearsal, which I described in loving detail. I named all the songs we were doing and everything. So, here goes the basics. First to arrive were Lauren Rubin, Michael G. Hawkins, and Will Collyer. Lauren did her two solos, Sweet River/Love, Don’t Pass Me By, and Flibbertigibbit. She’s really good on these songs. Then she and Michael did our opening number, I Do! I Do!/Man and Wife. Lauren left and Michael did his solo, Pretty Is – which he does wonderfully, Then he and Will did I Can See It – what a wonderful song that is. Michael left, and Will did his solo, one of my favorite Schmidt and Jones songs, Orphan In The Storm – fantastic. Then Michaelia Leigh arrived and she and Will did I Have Acted Like A Fool/They Were You – very beautiful. Will left and Michaelia did her two solos – Much More and Is It Really Me? Then Rex Smith arrived and did his put-together of Soon It’s Gonna Rain/My Cup Runneth Over. It’s a perfect match of singer and songs. Then it was time for Camille Saviola, who did her three songs – The Room Is Filled With You (we made a little cut in the song and did a really nice arrangement thing), Flaming Agnes (she does this really well), and What Is A Woman? Then Melody came and did the weirdest Schmidt and Jones song ever and one of my faves, Postcards. Melody does it with just the right amount of insanity.

After that, I went and had a sandwich and onion rings and then came home. Those were the highlights. Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because this revoltin’ development has finally been put right!

Today, I shall do the jog early in the morning, then I’ll do some errands and whatnot, after which I’ll hopefully pick up an important envelope. Then we have a two-thirty rehearsal and run-through with Melody. After that, I’m sure I’ll grab a bite to eat, and then I just really need to rest.

Tomorrow, we have a performance of Melody’s show for a retirement home in the Bank of Bur. After that, I have to get everything ready for our Kritzerland announcement at six in the morning on Monday. And, of course, Monday begins a whole new month – can you believe it?

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do the four-mile jog, I must do errands and whatnot, I’ll hopefully pick up an important envelope, I must rehearse, eat, and rest. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite sci-fi films from 2001 onward? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I get right to the point and hit the road to dreamland.
