ON MY WAY TO THE CITY THAT NEVER SLEEPS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, in just a few short hours I shall be on my way to New York, New York, the city that never sleeps. So, before I write anything further, please send your most excellent vibes and xylophones for a safe, secure, and on-time flight. I have to say that yesterday was a day in which I literally did not stop doing things. Normally when one says something like that it’s not really true, but it certainly was true yesterday. I got up at nine, and CDs and helper arrived and everything got shipped out. I then did the four-mile jog to get it out of the way. Then I began the endless task of sending singers the music and mp3s for the Gardenia show, after which I had to make sure that everything I was going to need whilst in New York was on the laptop. So, I e-mailed myself mp3s, scripts, sheet music, announcement blurbs and all that stuff. Every time I thought I’d done it all I remembered something else that needed doing.

Then I went to the bank, grabbed a chopped salad at Jerry’s Deli, picked up a couple of packages, and came back home. I then had to figure out the schedule for our Monday and Tuesday shoot. I talked to the cameraman, who told me how we’d need the tracks (I’d already burned them to CD, but he said the easiest way to do playback would be from an iPod, so I forwarded him the tracks). I did the schedule and sent it to our cast of twelve. I printed out scripts and sheet music so I’d have them on the plane. I prepped our eBlast announcement, so that’s all ready to go on Monday. Because I’ll be on East Coast time, I’ll announce at nine in the morning and then have to go directly to the shoot.

Then the master for our next release uploaded and I had to listen to that and approve it, and also send the tracks for the audio samples to the web guy. Then I got the great news that we’d found our Tuesday camera person so I can now breathe easier on that front. I talked to the gal who’s helping with props and she’s gotten everything she needs. Haven’t hear back from the wardrobe coordinator yet, but we’ll be having a production meeting on Saturday and we’ll figure it all out then.

I packed, and hope I haven’t forgotten anything important. I don’t think I have. I had some soup and Fruity Snacks (not at the same time) and that was that. Since my aim is to be in bed by nine-thirty, I began writing the notes and they shall be posted by nine.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I’m exhausted from all this doing and going and going and doing and I need as much beauty sleep as I can possibly get.

Today, I shall be up at 4:45 and on my way to the Bank of Bur airport at 5:15. Don’t forget to send all excellent vibes and xylophones for a safe, secure, and on-time flight. I’ll be joining elmore for dinner, and then Barry Pearl will be stopping by after his show. I may try to do the treadmill before I sup.

Tomorrow, we have a production meeting, hopefully at noon at my hotel. Then I may have lunch with a friend, and then I’m seeing Follies in the evening – very much looking forward to it. Sunday, I’ll just be prepping and making sure everything is ready for Monday. I may try to see a matinee, but who knows. And I’m sure I’ll sup with some fun folks.

Monday is the first and longest of our shoot days – we load in at ten and we wrap between four and five. I’m really looking forward to it and just hope it goes very smoothly and well – of course, with our unbelievably talented cast I’m sure it will. Tuesday is a shorter day, probably four hours in total, and that includes a move from one location (Angus’ Restaurant) to another (one of our cast members’ apartment). And then Wednesday morning bright and early I shall be on my way back to Los Angeles, the city that always sleeps.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, fly to New York, New York, the city that never sleeps, I must check into my hotel, which I hope will be as nice as it looked online, I must do the treadmill for one hour, I must sup with elmore, I must see Barry Pearl, and I must enjoy myself. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player, and your DVD/video player? I’ll start – CD, all kinds of recently released soundtracks – catching up slowly but surely. Blu and Ray, The Lavender Hill Mob, a wonderful comedy motion picture that I’ll finish when I return. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, after which I shall by flying high in the sky on my way to New York, New York, the city that never sleeps.
