DECISIONS, DECISIONS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I guess I’d better write these here notes in a hurry because I must once again be up early – not as early as the six in the morning of yesterday, but I was really hoping to sleep in this morning. But nooooo, CDs and helper will arrive and we must ship everything out. So, no rest for this weary person. Tomorrow, however, will be a different story: The Randy Vicar and the Licorice Twist. Today’s story was that I got up at six and announced the new Kritzerland CD. The orders came in fast and furious and also furious and fast, so I never could get back to bed because I didn’t want to fall too far behind in printing them out. In the end, we received more orders at Kritzerland than for any other soundtrack title and we sold out at five in the afternoon. We really needed to sell out, so that was very good. Of course, now it’s on to the next. The good news is that what follows the next is our 100th release and it’s all done and approved, so we may actually get to breathe easy for a week. I took a break and did the four-mile jog and then I went over to the Studio CafĂ© and had their yummilicious chopped salad with turkey. After that, I picked up a lot of packages, including the Nudie Musical t-shirts, which look really nice. The Blu and Ray discs should be here next week so we’ll have everything ready to go so we can get all the Kickstarter people their discs and t-shirts. We’ll be planning the little release partay for those who pledged that tier of dough.

I did a little writing, and then a DVD was delivered to me by the editor, said DVD containing the three episodes we’ve finished, complete with credits, and the slightly longer version of one of them. I brought them over to the Kritzerland designer’s house and showed them to him. He liked all, and after I showed him the slightly longer cut of the shortened one he said he didn’t mind it at all and that he liked what we’d excised. I actually wish he hadn’t liked it, because now I have to think about which to go with. The editor and I will be discussion – I still feel the shorter version has the better pace, but the longer version does have funny stuff in it. Decisions, decisions.

After that, I sat on my couch and began watching Watership Down on Blu and Ray (import from Germany). I promptly fell asleep for about forty minutes, so I decided to save that for later and I watched the first forty-five minutes of RKO 281, an HBO film based on the Citizen Kane documentary I watched last week. It’s really not very good and rather silly, but I’ll stick it out until the end. I kept getting telephonic calls so I finally shut it off. Then I did more work on the computer but I could barely keep Ye Olde Eyelids open so I just played and surfed. I uploaded the opening title sequence for the web series to the new You Tube channel – outsidetheboxseries – but for some reason it cut the ending of the music off, so I deleted it until I really figure out all the ins and outs of how I have to upload stuff. I’m going to have someone well versed in You Tube come over and show me exactly what to do.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I am truly exhausted and need to get some semblance of beauty sleep.

Today, I shall be up early and CDs and helper will arrive and we’ll get everything shipped out. Hopefully I’ll be able to do the four-mile jog before Alet and John Boswell arrive for a rehearsal around one-thirty. Then I’ll hopefully pick up some packages and do a couple of errands and whatnot. Then Barry Pearl will be stopping by to see the episodes, so I’ll get his opinion about the long and short version of the one episode. Don’t know when I’m supposed to eat, though. We shall see.

Tomorrow, I have to buckle down Winsocki and do a complicated edit road map for our next release – the complication being that I have to really listen to a LOT of material and make some difficult decisions about whether to try and keep it a one CD set or whether to go to two. Then I’m supping with Melody and folks. Have to figure out where. Saturday I have to rest so that I’m in good voice for Sunday, which is the Michelle Nicastro event. I have to be out of there by three at the latest because I was just invited to the opening of some new musical at the Pasadena Playhouse – I’ll be attending with Barry Pearl.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, ship CDs, do the four-mile jog, rehearse, hopefully pick up some packages, visit with Barry Pearl, then eat. Today’s topic of discussion: Everyone loves a good fantasy novel or film – what fantasy world that you’ve read about in a book or seen in a film would be the most fun to visit and why? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall dream a short and slightly longer dream – then I’ll have to choose which I like best. Decisions, decisions.
