3-D

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it appears that I am quite late starting these here notes (they should have been up thirty minutes ago) and not only that, she of the Evil Eye will be here all too soon, so I shall speed through these here notes faster than a speeding bullet. I’m now trying to calculate exactly how fast I must type to be faster than a speeding bullet and that is SLOWING ME DOWN. Damn them, damn them all to hell. Well, I had a strange day yesterday – it just sort of began, went along, and then was over. I do remember arising, I do remember the helper coming over to gather up invoices, I do remember several visits, including one from a collector, one from Mr. Jason Graae, and one from the editor of the web series. I remember trying to get out the door to do the four-mile jog and not being successful at doing so. I remember starting to put together what will be our script for the LACC show – they seem to really want it quickly, but I have to retype all the contextual commentary and I had to write the opening and since I’m adding a few things that weren’t in the Gardenia shows, I have to find that commentary (from other Gardenia shows) and transfer it. And then, we have to type all the lyrics into the script, and that’s thirty songs. I do remember eating two scoops of egg salad and some rye toast. I do remember picking up bills but no important envelope and no packages. I do remember a few telephonic conversations and I do remember finally doing the four-mile jog at around five-thirty, after which I do remember sitting on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I attempted to watch a motion picture on one of those MGM movie on demand DVDrs entitled Top Banana, starring Mr. Phil Silvers. It’s truly one of the oddest movies ever made – extremely low-budget, they basically just carted the sets of the Broadway show out to LA and assembled them at ZIV Studios, where they shot the show just as it had been done on Broadway, in a very flat style, with occasional shots of an audience sitting in some LA theater (show and audience are never tied together). The first problem is that seeing the audience you expect to HEAR the audience but you never do, of course. But once you establish them and then have comedy playing it’s pretty deadly not to hear laughter. There are certainly amusing things in Top Banana, and a loud performance by Phil Silvers as a TV comic – it’s basically a send-up of Milton Berle. Amusingly, the film was shot in 3D but the craze was over by the time it came out and it was basically just shown in 2D. I didn’t see one shot in what I viewed that would lead anyone to believe it would have been of any interest in 3D. And just in case anyone is interested, these here notes are being written in 3D – WATCH OUT, that word is coming RIGHT AT YOU!!! Whew. I love our new 3D notes, don’t you? I hope they’ll be as popular as the 3D re-release of The Lion King. Where was I? Oh, yes, the 2D Top Banana. I only got thirty minutes in because I kept dozing off, so I’ll finish it at some point this weekend.

After that, I relaxed, did some stuff on the computer, and then realized I was thirty minutes late starting the 3D notes. Well, why don’t we all click on the 3D Unseemly Button below because I need some semblance of my 3D beauty sleep.

Today, I shall arise in 3D and do the four-mile jog, also in 3D. Then I shall go do some errands and whatnot, after which I shall return and shower. Then I’ll mosey on over to the Hollywood Show, which I hear is in 3D this year. Of course, I loathe the two idiots who run the show, but I feel I must be supportive of my pals who are doing the show, and I do want to see Nudie Musical’s Susan Buckner, who I haven’t seen since we did the film. I’ll visit with some dealers and whoever else I know there, and then I’ll come back home and continue building the script for the LACC show. But I also have to do the edit road map for our next CD release and that’s going to take some time, and then I also have to write the liner notes for said release. After that, I’m supping with Melody and folks at their apartment.

Tomorrow, I’ll probably spend most of the day working, and then hopefully I can relax in the evening, although I can’t help thinking that something is going on that I didn’t write down. Hopefully, if that’s true, I’ll remember. Next week is very busy with meetings and meals, but most importantly prepping and then doing our two-day shoot for the final three episodes of season one of the web series.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do the four-mile jog, do errands and whatnot, attend the Hollywood Show, write, and then sup. Today’s topic of discussion: Who are your favorite male TV comedy people – from the beginning of TV right up through now? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall dream in 3 dimensions.
