QUIETUDE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I spent a rather quiet Sunday, doing quiet things quietly. I needed the day to be a quiet one and quiet it was, a day of quietude. I got up quite late but that is because I went to bed quite late. Did you know if you anagram quite it becomes quiet? I stayed up quite late because I was watching the extras on the West Side Story Blu and Ray. In any case, I got up at eleven after nine hours of quiet sleep. I thought about doing the four-mile jog, but in the end I decided to take a one-day hiatus from said jog. Instead, I went and had a chopped salad and a bagel for my meal o’ the day. I then came home, did work on the computer, all quietly. Then I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Yesterday, I watched a documentary on Blu and Ray entitled George Harrison: Living In The Material World, directed by Martin Scorsese. It’s a very long documentary, three hours to be exact. It has a lot of great stuff in it but no real point of view on the part of Mr. Scorsese. He just sort of presents historical footage, interviews, and it’s all very interesting but doesn’t exactly give the film any pace or dramatic impact. It just sort of goes from thing to thing. There are a lot of wonderful interviews, though, and the archival footage is, at times, really incredible. At three hours, however, it’s a bit of long slog.

After that long slog, I did some more work on the computer, then decided to do the new operating system update on the iPhone. Whatever or however it did this is incomprehensible to me. First it downloaded the new thing to my computer. Then, for reasons that are beyond me, after doing a backup of the phone, it then did a complete restore – that, of course, scared me a lot, and all of this took almost an hour to do and as I type this it’s STILL not done. It said it restored everything from that backup it had just done, and I presume all my settings and stored stuff will be exactly as they were. I have no idea if it put the new operating system on there because it never told me whether it did or not. Now it’s finished and I guess I have the latest and greatest. Not sure how the “cloud” works – perhaps someone can enlighten me because I don’t know from a cloud other than all of this stuff is endlessly confusing to the likes of me.

Now I’m updating all the apps on the computer – that all goes very quickly until you get to the GPS app – then it’s thirty bloody minutes. In any case, it was a quite quiet day of quite lovely quietude and exactly what I needed.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I really must get my beauty sleep for I must arise at six in the morning to announce the new Kritzerland title.

Today, I shall be up at six to announce the new Kritzerland title. Then I shall hopefully print out a LOT of orders. I may or may not go back to sleep for a while. I will do the four-mile jog, I will do errands and whatnot, I will do some banking, I will hopefully pick up a package or three, I may or may not have a short meeting about the potential new Kritzerland cast album release, and I was just reminded of a potential meeting in the early evening – don’t know if that will happen or not.

Tomorrow is more of the same, and then we have our first Gardenia rehearsal starting at five. I’m really looking forward to hearing my songs sung by all these excellently excellent singers. I’ll also be auditioning some young fellows for the LACC show. The rest of the week is errands and whatnot, meals, meetings, hopefully visiting the editing room, and stuff like that.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, announce a CD, hopefully print out a LOT of orders, do the four-mile jog, do errands and whatnot, do banking, hopefully pick up some packages, maybe have a meeting or two and at some point I must eat something light but amusing. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your all-time favorite songs of The Beatles, and your favorite songs of all the Beatles’ post Beatles songs? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall dream peacefully after my day of quiet quietude.
