February 29, 2012:

AND SO WE BID A FOND FAREWELL TO FEBRUARY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, today is the last day of February. This month has flown by, like a gazelle singing “Dinner For One Please, James. I gotta tell you. Tomorrow we will march right into March and my fervent hope and prayer is that March will be a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful. And now, I must write these here notes in a hurry because I must be up at six in the morning to announce the two new Kritzerland titles.

Yesterday was a very busy little day. I got up rather too early because of a really disturbing and odd dream. I stayed in bed, finally fell asleep, only to be awakened by a telephonic call a couple of hours later. That call may or may not result in some future Kritzerland projects. I then got up and did some work on the computer, after which I went and had some spaghetti and meatballs, which I had a craving for. Then I picked up one tiny package, then came home. I then spent a couple of hours finishing the contextual commentary for the Kritzerland show. I also wrote the blurbs for our new releases, approved the item pages, and got the audio samples off to the web guy.

I then had several really long telephonic conversations, all of which had to do with potential Kritzerland projects. So, hopefully many of them will come to fruition, oh, yes, hopefully many of them will come to fruition. Why is the word fruit in fruition? I suppose its just apples and oranges. Anyway, that was basically the day in a nutshell and the nutshell in a day. I then sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a new French import Blu and Ray entitled To Be or Not To Be, the original Ernst Lubitsch film starring Mr. Jack Benny and Miss Carole Lombard. I’m rather fond of this film, although I don’t quite rank it as highly as I rank other Lubitsch films. But the laughs are plenty, and Jack Benny is hilarious and Carole Lombard is funny and sexy and wonderful. The transfer is okay – a bit better than DVD but not much.

All the book materials were sent to the publisher yesterday and now things should proceed apace over the next two weeks. Around that time, we’ll put the book up for pre-orders, and yes, we’ll figure out something special for those who buy signed copies directly from Kritzerland.

I then listened to some music and relaxed and then relaxed and listened to some music. Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must arise in only a few hours to announce the new Kritzerland releases.

Today, I must arise very early to announce the new Kritzerland titles, after which I will hopefully print out a LOT of orders. I may or may not go back to sleep. Then I’m having an early lunch with Jrand’s friend Adam, after which I’ll hopefully pick up some packages and print lots more orders.

Tomorrow, I have a breakfast with our very own Miss Alet Taylor, then we have our second Kritzerland rehearsal and then I’m supping with the family Hollis. Friday I have a lunch in Westwood – I’ve been asked to do a midnight screening of The First Nudie Musical at the Nuart Theatre, and I’ve said yes, so we’re meeting to set the date. Then the decision will be whether to screen the Blu and Ray or a 35mm print – since all the prints I have have faded slightly and have some scratches and splices, I’m thinking the Blu-ray might be the way to go, although I’ll reserve judgment until I see what it looks like on their screen. I’m also going to suggest that we show episode one of Outside the Box – I thought that could really be fun. Saturday is our stumble-through, and Sunday is sound check and show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, announce our new releases, have an early lunch, hopefully pick up some packages, hopefully print out a LOT of orders, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, whilst I hit the road to dreamland where I shall bid a fond farewell to February and a big hello to March, a month that we pray will be filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful.
