CAPSULE NOTES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is quite late and I’m still fighting the good fight, throat-wise (and I think I’m winning the battle), so I must write these here notes in capsule form, which can then be taken at bedtime with water. Yes, these are capsule notes, notes condensed and concise, notes to the point and nothing but the point, save for the rather pointless words above.

Yesterday was a day I like to call Thursday. I got up at five-thirty and just stayed in bed like so much fish, with thoughts roaming around the windmills of my mind. I eventually fell back asleep around eight-thirty and slept for two more hours. I got up, answered e-mails, had to make a few adjustments to the packaging of our next two releases, and then got approvals on both, so those went in to the printers. I then went over to Jerry’s Deli and had a nice big bowl of chicken soup. That helped, and then I came home, had a little visit with a collector friend, and then I went and picked up one package. I was hoping the little gift that will come to some lucky book buyers would be there, but alas, it looks like it will be delivered today, which is fine. Then I came home, did some work on the computer, had some telephonic calls and then got ready to go to the Gardenia to see Andrea Marcovicci.

Our table consisted of Adryan Russ, me, Jane Noseworthy, and Julie Garnye, and we all had a very nice dinner and conversation. I gave club owner Tom Rolla a copy of There’s Mel, There’s Woody, and There’s You, since he makes an appearance in the book. Then it was show time.

Andrea does a new show every year, this one’s theme is songs that make you smile. It’s her usual entertaining show – this was its first performance and she’ll work out the small kinks as she continues doing it. One of the biggest treats of the show was when she brought up her mother, singer Helen Marcovicci, who, at ninety-something years of age, still has an incredible voice. She was magical. At the ivories was Mr. Shelly Markham, and there was a very good bass player along for the ride.

After the show, I came right home, and intended to write these here notes right away, but got waylaid by all sorts of e-mails that needed answering. Once those were out of the way it was already past midnight and time for these here notes to be posted.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because it’s time to take this section’s capsule notes with water so that we can all get a good night’s beauty sleep.

Today, I shall hopefully arise after a good night’s beauty sleep. I don’t have much scheduled but will make a show order for the next Kritzerland show, post an event page for it, and maybe even start writing the contextual commentary just to get that out of the way. I’m sure I’ll eat something light but amusing, hopefully I’ll pick up some packages and an important envelope and I shall relax and keep fighting the good fight until I lick this thing that’s bugging my throat, so keep sending excellent vibes and xylophones for no illness.

Tomorrow, we have a Melody rehearsal and then dinner. Sunday I’m not sure what all is going on but it’s something. Next week is very busy, with meeting and meals, a work session with our musical director, dinner with the Jones’s and other assorted items.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, make a show order, write, hopefully pick up some packages and an important envelope, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/video player? I’ll start – Blu and Ray, Tin Tin and My Week With Marilyn. CD, all sorts of upcoming Kritzerland projects. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland where I shall undoubtedly dream capsule dreams. Don’t forget to send excellent vibes and xylophones for health.
