March 1, 2012:

THE LUSTY MONTH OF MARCH

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, tra la, tra la, it’s the lusty month of March. No wait, the lusty month is May? So, what’s March? I feel that we need to switch it up and have lots of lust in March and some ides in May, don’t you? I feel that March has gotten short shrift, lusty month-wise. For example, I’m feeling quite lusty right now. It’s embarrassing actually, just how lusty I’m feeling. Earlier I was out and said to a nice person on the street, “Aren’t I lusty?” and the nice person hit me. Yes, it’s March and my fervent hope and prayer is that March will be a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful. And lust. Let us not forget lust.

The last day of February was certainly a fine little day. I was up at six in the morning to announce the two new Kritzerland titles. I then went back to bed for ninety minutes, after which I got up and printed out a nice number of orders. The printing would continue throughout the day, and A Man and a Woman is selling really well, with only about 160 copies left. After that, I met Jrand’s friend Adam at Stanley’s, where we had an early lunch and a very nice chat. I had an artichoke as an appetizer, which I shared with Adam, and then the famous Chinese chicken salad, which was excellent. It was while dining that I was alerted to the fact that somehow our discussion board had gotten locked. I really have no clew as to how that happened, but I unlocked it immediately. I suppose I might have clicked on the locked icon, but I really don’t see how. So, it remains a bit of a mystery to me.

After lunch, I picked up a couple of packages and then came home, where I printed out more orders. After that, for the first time in weeks and weeks, I’d actually caught up on all my work and I got to go sit on my couch like so much fish and watch a motion picture and a half.

Last night, I watched a motion picture and a half. The entire motion picture on Blu and Ray was entitled Last Dance, starring Miss Sharon Stone. I’d never heard of it, but I looked at the copyright date on the back and it said 2011 so I took a chance. Well, I don’t really know how they get away without putting the actual copyright year on a disc, but they kept that part a big secret – had I known it was a film from 1996 I would have passed because I would have known what I was in for. Last Dance, directed by the talented Bruce Beresford, is a piece of dreck. It’s almost single-handedly done in by its leading man, Rob Morrow, who just doesn’t have it for the big screen. Miss Stone is very good, but the script is so awful every step of the way, and then the ending is just ludicrous. Truly bad, so naturally there are about fourteen ten-star “reviews” on the imdb telling me that this is one of the greats. I don’t think so. The transfer is so-so, although maybe the film just looked drab.

I then watched the first hour of Mr. Fritz Lang’s film, Scarlet Street, on a new Blu and Ray. I guess the negative to the film is missing, because what we get is taken off a Library of Congress 35mm print. Some of it looks really quite good, but there are a lot of scratches throughout. I do like the movie quite a bit, although, for me, it’s nowhere near Lang’s companion piece, Woman in the Window. I’ll finish it up tonight.

After that, I printed out more orders, and listened to music and relaxed. Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must get a good night’s beauty sleep so all my lust can be in fine fettle.

My goodness I’m feeling lusty right now. Today, I shall get up when I get up, then I have a ten-thirty breakfast with our very own Miss Alet Taylor. I’m not planning to eat anything except maybe a bagel and cream cheese, as I’ll be supping later. Then I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, do some errands and whatnot, and then we have our second Kritzerland rehearsal, after which I’ll have dinner somewhere fun.

Tomorrow, I have an early lunch with the gentleman who programs the Nuart Theatre and we’ll be setting the date for our midnight screening of The First Nudie Musical, sometime in June. Saturday is our stumble-through and I’ll probably have dinner after, and Sunday is sound check and show – have no idea how we’re doing with the reservations – hopefully we’ll have a nice crowd for what will be our final show at Vitello’s, before we once again move to a new venue.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, have a breakfast, do errands and whatnot, hopefully pick up packages, have a rehearsal, eat, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: Since our very own Danise is on some daytime talk show, what have been your favorite daytime talk shows, soaps, and other daytime programming? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall romp about and be lusty in the month of March, a month we pray will be filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful.
