TWO SHIPS PASSING IN THE NIGHT

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, like two ships passing in the night, I’m happy to say that all books were shipped yesterday by noon with the exception of books that were ordered along with our upcoming CD releases – we’re hoping the new CD releases will be in Thursday and all that can ship then – should they not arrive, then the CDs won’t ship till the following Thursday as the helper is gone for a week. I hope they arrive quickly and that everyone (at least the first thirty-five people who ordered (I upped that from twenty-five) like their little special extra something – but even those who were not part of the first thirty-five also get a little something. It was a lot of priority boxes for those first thirty-five, but books only (with the much smaller extra something) all went in padded envelopes inside flat rate priority envelopes. I had to sign a LOT of books, but it all got done and that’s that. The book is also now available on Kindle, Nook, and Sony, and very cheaply, too. But there are weird formatting issues with eBooks occasionally, so that’s not the way I’d choose to read this book, but that’s just me. No need to report those issues as they are peculiar to the eBook and none of them are in the actual printed book. Now, if someone can only explain to me the meaning of two ships passing in the night I will be ever so grateful.

After all that shipping, I went to the storage place and got two charts that will help the musical director of the Kritzerland show immeasurably. Then I went and had a chopped salad and two bagels – light and yummilicious. After that, I picked up a couple of packages, then came home and did some work on the computer. I then listened to an upcoming Kritzerland project that I’m excited about – completely weird score to a completely weird movie, but I love the composer (it’s one of only a handful of film scores by this gentleman – maybe three in all) and I’m thrilled to bring his work to CD – heretofore, nothing has been available. So, that one can go to mastering now, and we’ll hopefully start working on a couple of others. After that, I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched four episodes of The Killing II. One thing that’s good about the second season is that the entire deal is just ten episodes – twenty for the first season is, I think, what caused the mechanics to show and to have the final few episodes not be as interesting as they should have been. There’s something to be said about brevity and as soon as I figure out what it is, I shall say it – with brevity. In any case, I think I’m actually enjoying season two better than season one. It’s just a terrific show and I cannot say enough about Sophie Grabol. The plot is interesting, and it’s just riveting television at its finest. If you have a multi-region DVD player I cannot recommend these two seasons highly enough.

After my viewing was done, I finessed my contextual commentary a little, and played on the Internet a little. Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must get a good night’s beauty sleep for there is much to do today and do it I shall.

Today, I shall hopefully arise after a good night’s beauty sleep, then I shall do errands and whatnot, eat something light but amusing, hopefully pick up packages, listen to two separate performances of the same STAGE show so that I can figure out which numbers are coming from which show – then the engineer can mix that one, and we can start finessing the mixes early next week – this stuff all has to go to mastering by next Friday if we’re to meet our deadline. Then we’ll have our second Kritzerland rehearsal.

The rest of the week is meetings, meals, our stumble-through, meals, and then sound check and show. Next week is going to be filled with getting these three STAGE recordings finished – mixes and packaging. I also have to get a couple of other releases prepped, so it will be a little nutty.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do errands and whatnot, eat, hopefully pick up packages, listen, rehearse and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland where I shall dream of ships that pass in the night.
