GLUTEN

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, this week has flown by, like a gazelle on a gluten-free diet. I personally cannot be without my gluten. The fact is, I didn’t even know what gluten was until the restaurant called Hugo’s just up and changed their pasta to gluten-free. Even then, all I really knew was that gluten-free pasta tasted bad, really, really bad. And right then and there I knew I could not be without my gluten. Your darn tootin’ I have to have my gluten. What the HELL am I talking about gluten for? Don’t I have notes to write and shouldn’t I be writing them so I can get them posted and go to sleep. Of course, these here notes will have gluten, let me just say THAT. I don’t do gluten-free notes.

Yesterday had plenty of gluten, for example. In fact, the gluten was a little high-falutin’. If one has to much gluten it makes one want to eat a Fig Newton, sure as shootin’. I got up at eight when the helper arrived. Then the musical director arrived and picked up his stuff. Then I did a two-mile jog. Then I shipped a package, and picked up a couple of packages, but not the errant and truant one, which I now believe either wasn’t sent at all, or sent long after I was told it was sent. It doesn’t matter anymore, as I have received the refund and will just find a similar copy of the book. Then I did some errands and whatnot, heated up the pool for the first time in ages, and swam for an hour, which was a good deal of fun. I must do that more often. Then three of our singers came by and got their music and CDRs so everyone has their stuff. It was fun to meet Leigh Ann Larkin, who is delightful. I instantly cast her in an Outside the Box episode – I do believe we’ll start shooting at least the first three in the next four weeks. Then it was finally time to go sup.

I met our very own Vini Cirilli at Hugo’s and we had such a nice time chatting and catching up. He kept laughing and remembering all our outrageous stuff, and every time he’d mention something I’d turn to a page in the book and show it to him – usually it was verbatim what he’d just said. He’s VERY thin – he’s been doing this diet called Eat for Life – I’m reading up on it now, but it sounds like something that would be nigh unto impossible for me to stick to – it’s all vegetables and fruits and salads, no real dressing other than oil and vinegar, no dairy at all, no bread at all, no sugar at all. But he lost thirty pounds in a very short period of time. I’d almost be willing to give it a go for six months, but as he even said, it’s almost impossible to do it if you’re social. Given the number of lunch meetings and dinner things I have to do that seems about right. But, we’ll see. I’ve got to do something, and my traditional way of losing weight is more difficult with each passing year. We were there for close to two hours and we promised to stay in touch and see each other more often. In fact, I’ve invited he and his girlfriend to the next Kritzerland show.

After dinner, I came home and watched the first thirty-five minutes of a Swedish film called The Bomber, based on a wildly popular Swedish novel by Liza Marklund. Miss Marklund is very popular with the populace in Sweden and so much so that she just co-authored a book with American thriller writer, James Patterson. I’ve been buying a few of these Swedish movies and TV movies based on Swedish books that are well thought of – I should have more of them in soon. This film, thus far, is okay – I’m hoping it gets better, but right now the lead character is a little irritating to me. One of the leads is played by an actor from one of the Wallander episodes.

After that, I listened to an upcoming Kritzerland project – the entire score, but not edited yet. I’m very excited about it – it’s from a classic scary movie and one with a LOT of fans. The music has never been released before and we have every note of it. Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must be up early again and need some semblance of beauty sleep.

Have I mentioned that I’m rootin’ for gluten? Today, I must be up early for I have an early appointment with our very own Teddy to get a haircut. After that, I’ll try to do a jog, eat something light and amusing, hopefully pick up some packages and an important envelope, do some work on the computer, and then relax.

Tomorrow, she of the Evil Eye will be here and I’ll jog and do stuff until she’s gone. Then I have an early dinner, then I’m seeing a show with the Family Hollis. Sunday, I may actually get some relaxing time in, which would be nice, as the next week is a very busy one.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, get a haircut, do a jog, eat, hopefully pick up some packages and an important envelope, and then relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/video player? I’ll start – CD, Kritzerland projects and Lysistrata Jones. Blu and Ray, too many to mention – I’m slogging my way through them. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland where I shall have dreams loaded with gluten.
