HOMEWARD BOUND

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is VERY late so I must write these here notes in a hurry as I must be up early to be on my way home to Los Angeles, California, USA. So, please send your most excellent vibes and xylophones for a safe, secure, and on time flight.

Last night, the East Coast Singer did her brand spanking new club act. Considering we’ve never really had the time to properly finesse the show, it went really well and she did a great job. Yes, there are things to smooth out but for a first time out it was smooth, told its story, and the audience really liked her and the material. So, onward to LA in two weeks and we will spend two very long rehearsals smoothing and polishing performance stuff. But the act was so much better the second time around.

Prior to that, we’d had a nice rehearsal, then we were taken for a Father’s Day brunch at the Red Eye Grill. I think it’s kind of a fish place, so I had a platter of shrimp, crab, and lobster and cocktail sauce, all excellent. When the plate arrived there was this mutant lobster thing that looked like a creature from a 1950s horror movie – I picked it up gingerly and handed it to the waitress. As she moved it to another plate, some noxious green poop-like substance came out of its rectal cavity. It was a unique occurrence in all of my dining experience. It was pretty amusing on some level. After that, I came back to the hotel and relaxed by dozing whilst watching The Food Channel. I must say, I’ve now seen three reality food shows that are absolutely bottom-feeders in terms of bad music, forced drama, and everything I hate about reality TV, a world that I sheepishly admit I have worked in just a little too much. Therefore, it’s very easy to spot the manipulation and I just find it reprehensible on every level.

We arrived at the club at eight-fifteen. The previous show, some cabaret person named Lennie Watts, had started at seven and was not yet finished, which means it had been going on for an hour and fifteen minutes. It was a packed house for Lennie and he finally finished at eight-thirty or a little after – a ninety-minute show, which, for my money, for any cabaret artiste is fifteen minutes too long. But, what do I know? Then we did our sound check. At our table we had elmore, ChasSmith, Julie, Milla, and Crista Moore. It was a decent-sized house and they were a very responsive audience. After the show, a few of us went out to eat. Me, Crista, the East Coast Singer, her nice friend, Aaron, Neil, and a beautiful long tall drink of water named Rebecca. We were trying to find some French jernt but got tired of walking and ended up in some Russian jernt on 20th Street. It was actually very good – noisy, but very good food. I had some kind of meat in a small pastry and then an artichoke salad that was great. The East Coast Singer, the long tall drink of water, and Crista also had the East Coast Salad. Neil had some kind of eggplant rolls, and Aaron had what looked like miniature balls of some sort – I can’t remember exactly what it actually was. Then I walked briskly back to the hotel. I had planned to try and get to sleep by one, but since I didn’t get back until one-fifteen that didn’t happen.

And that was yesterday. And now it’s today. That is how days work. First it’s yesterday, then it’s today, then it’s tomorrow, when the sun’ll hopefully come out, because there was little sun yesterday. I just want a nice, sunny day until I am on my way back to LA on an aeroplane. Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must get as much beauty sleep as possible.

Today, I shall be up by nine-fifteen. I’ll go directly to the nearby Fed Ex Office and ship home my large supply of chocolate licorice plus a few other things. Then I’ll come back, pack up that last couple of things that need to be packed, then a car will whisk me away to the airport, and then I shall be on my way home to LA. When I get home, I’ll have a lot of stuff to do, including having a meal somewhere.

Tomorrow, I’ll catch up on everything, get my cast their music, do some banking, hopefully pick up some packages, and set some meetings. The rest of the week will be meetings, meals, getting my permanent porcelain crown, and lots o’ other stuff.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, ship stuff home, be on my way to the airport, be on my way home, eat, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What is your favorite cuisine of another country and what do you love and where have you had the best meal of that cuisine? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland – don’t forget to please send your most excellent vibes and xylophones for a safe, secure, and on time flight.
