TICKLED PINK

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I’m just back from the screening – it’s almost four in the morning, so I’ll try to write these here notes before I fall asleep. What fun we had – a really nice crowd, two of the four dildos and one of our dancers (who I hadn’t seen since we shot the film), and the whole thing just tickled me pink. I got there around eleven-thirty with our very own Barry Pearl in tow. I knew some but not all of the folks in attendance. My young pal Caitlynne Medrek came with her Ozzie friend and they hung with Barry and me. Caitlynne has been her for about two months doing a series of workshops – she’s the one who won first place out of thousands of entrants at a Canada singing competition when she was fourteen or so, singing my song Annie. She’s blossomed into a very cute twenty-two year-old. At midnight we all took our seats, then I was brought up to introduce the film.

We began by showing the first Outside the Box episode, with Beth Leavel and Barry. The reaction was fantastic – it’s the first time I’ve seen it with a crowd of people and during the final number they were just howling with delight. So gratifying. Then they showed some trailer, and then Nudie began. The projectionist really wanted to run a 35mm print and I agreed to let him – it was scratchy but only with a couple of splices. It had about sixty percent of its color, but the Blu-ray is just so beautiful that it was hard to watch this, at least for me. The thing about this particular print is that when I bought it was in great shape – minor scratches only. Then I sent it off to some German film festival and whatever bad equipment it was run on really scratched it up much more than it was. In any case, Nudie is always fun to see with an actual audience. All the numbers got applause, and the laughs were pretty much all there. In fact, Caitlynne and her friend, neither of whom knew anything about the film, were laughing hysterically throughout – in fact, her friend was screaming with laughter during the Lesbian, Butch, Dyke dialogue prior to the song.

After the film (and it IS fun to see it on the very big screen, I must say), we did a short Q&A – we brought up the two dildos and the dancer and we got some very interesting questions that were fun to answer. A few people brought things for me to sign, so I happily did that. And that was that. Caitlynne goes home to Canada today but hopes she’ll be back in September.

Prior to all that, I’d gotten a decent night’s sleep, had one last little e-mail volley about the “thing” and that’s now done – I think it was handled poorly and disrespectfully, but that’s just me. We’ll see what the future holds. Then I did some errands and whatnot, had a sandwich and no fries, picked up no packages and an important envelope, did some banking, then came home and listened to the bonus tracks of our new master, and that’s now approved. Then I went to see the opening night of the play that Barry directed, a Sam Bobrick play. Barry and his actors did a very nice job and it was fun to see. I sat with friends Kay Cole and her ever lovin’ Michael Lamont. After that show, they had some food out for the audience, and we hung for awhile and then Barry and I headed for the Nuart.

So, to wrap it all up, it was a pretty wonderful day and evening and I was, in fact, tickled pink, which, I’m told, is better than being tickled brown or even pickled pink. Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I really must get at least a few hours of beauty sleep.

Today, I shall hopefully arise after a decent night’s beauty sleep, although there isn’t much of the night left. Then I have some errands and whatnot to do, hopefully some packages to pick up, and then I may or may not go out to eat – we shall see.

Tomorrow, I’m supposed to meet two young teen actresses who are possibilities for two upcoming Outside the Box episodes, and then we have our Annual Tony Awards Bash right here at haineshisway.com. You won’t want to miss one second of it – it’s the most happening partay on all the Internet.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do errands and whatnot, prepare our eBlast for the new release, hopefully pick up packages, and eat something fun. Today’s topic of discussion: What are the movies you never tire of watching? For me, it’s only a handful, but I can literally watch them all the time without ever getting bored. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, having been thoroughly tickled pink during a wonderful screening of Nudie Musical.
