GOOD SATURDAY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I’m not quite sure what sort of Saturday it was. I suppose it was a good Saturday even though I think it’s supposed to be Good Friday, but that can’t happen when it’s Friday the 13th, so I guess the good moved to Saturday, if you get my meaning and I know you do. I had to get up early because she of the Evil Eye was showing up at nine. However, I did not get up at nine, I got up at six-thirty. I hate when that happens. Then I went to Jerry’s Deli for some bacon and eggs and toast, oh my, after which I decided to do that which I rarely do in the city that always sleeps – walk. So, I did the kind of brisk walk that is second nature to me when I am in the city that never sleeps. I walked a mile or so, then turned around and walked the mile or so back. It was already very hot out, but it was kind of fun, not that there’s much to look at along that stretch of Ventura Blvd. Then I did some errands and whatnot, picked up no packages and then came home. I really wasn’t in the mood to do any work, after the crazy week I just had, so instead I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Yesterday, I finished watching the second Maria Wern movie, which was at the top of these films, really good, with some good twists, excellent performances, and really good music. Then I took a break and went in the pool for a while, since it was broiling outside. Of course, I keep the pool so warm that it was also broiling in the pool, rather like swimming in a bowl of soup. Then I watched another Maria Wern movie, also excellent. Once again, many actors I’ve come to know from all these Swedish shows.

After that, I went to Gelson’s and got some low-cal low-fat ice cream – a couple of different kinds, and I also bought some Laughing Cow cheese bits that are only thirty-five calories each. I came back home and had some ice cream, and then I prepped the eBlast for Monday’s two titles, which I’m hoping will do well. I do know that I really don’t want to do three releases in one week anytime soon again.

I also printed out orders throughout the day – while they’ve slowed way down, they do come in regularly. What’s fascinating is that if this were five years ago it would have sold out in one day. But it’s a different world now and a lot of the hardcore collectors have sadly passed on and the kiddies don’t really care about history. The word really got out on this, it’s been talked about everywhere, and yet you know as soon as it sells out in a week or two, I will be inundated with e-mails saying, “I just found out about it, how could you have sold out?” So, if you have friends or acquaintances you think might like it, share it on your Facebook pages before it’s too late. We really only have about 350 left.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must really get a good night’s beauty sleep.

Today, I shall hopefully arise after a good night’s beauty sleep. My musical director is coming by to pick up his CDR and music, but the only other work I’ll do is to finish the current set of liner notes. It hasn’t been a rush because the designer’s been away and also for the first time ever I’m actually one release ahead – I’m hoping to make that three in the next few weeks. I’ll eat something light but amusing, and I’m quite sure I’ll watch the final Maria Wern film (hopefully they’ll put out the last three films soon), and then I’ll choose something fun to watch.

Tomorrow and the entire week will be very busy. Hopefully, Capitol will finally do the One More Kiss transfer on Monday – in fact, please send your most excellent vibes and xylophones for that to happen – and when they do my engineer and I will mix it the same evening and get it to the mastering guy, who will master it immediately and then get that off to the pressing plant along with the two we’re announcing on Monday. I have more liner notes to write, I have to choose the show order for the Kritzerland show and I have to write the contextual commentary, I have meetings and meals, and I think a couple of outings to see things, including a 70mm showing of Lawrence of Arabia at the Academy on Thursday night.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, see the musical director, finish liner notes, eat, and then relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hoping we have a Good Sunday to compliment the Good Saturday.
